Supported Applications

The Omega iSD-TH Series is an environmental monitoring and recording device designed for remote surveillance of temperature, relative humidity, and dew point over the Internet or Ethernet. The series supports applications including clean rooms, computer server rooms, HVAC systems, pharmaceutical and food processing facilities, hospitals, laboratories, semiconductor fabs, electronic assembly areas, warehousing, museums, manufacturing environments, greenhouses, and farm animal shelters.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The iSD-TH Series operates within an ambient temperature range of 0 to 60°C (32 to 140°F) for the unit. The measurement ranges cover -40 to 125°C (-40 to 257°F) for process temperature and 0 to 100% RH for relative humidity, with an optional narrow range of 20 to 30°C available.

Accuracy specifications vary by sensor type and operating band:

  • Wand Probe Temperature Accuracy: ±0.5°C (±1°F) for 5 to 45°C (41 to 113°F); up to ±1°C (up to ±2°F) for 0 to 5°C and 45 to 60°C (32 to 41°F and 113 to 140°F).
  • Industrial Probe Temperature Accuracy: ±0.5°C (±1°F) for 5 to 45°C (41 to 113°F); up to ±1.5°C (up to ±2.7°F) for -40 to 5°C and 45 to 124°C (-40 to 41°F and 113 to 255°F).
  • Relative Humidity Accuracy: ±2.75% for 10 to 90%; ±3% for 5 to 10% and 90 to 95%; ±4% for 0 to 5% and 95 to 100%.

Resolution is specified as 0.1°C (12 bit) for temperature and 0.1%, 12 bit for humidity. Repeatability is listed at ±0.1°C and ±0.1%. Response time ranges from 5 to 30 seconds, tau 63%.

Configuration Options

The series offers configurable probe types, cable lengths, and alarm outputs tailored for specific installation needs. The unit features a built-in web server supporting protocols including TCP, UDP, SNMP, SMTP, NTP, ARP, ICMP, DHCP, DNS, HTTP, and Telnet.

Probes and Sensors

  • Standard Probe: Right angle probe with Ø13 mm (0.5 in) diameter and 83.8 mm (3.3 in) insertion length; includes a 1.8 m (6') extension cable.
  • Industrial Probe: 137 mm (5") industrial probe with Ø16 x 137 mm L dimensions, SS 316 housing material, and a 3 m (10') cable.

Data Logging and Communication

  • Storage: Includes a removable 2 GB SD Flash Memory card capable of storing up to seven years of data at ten-second intervals or eight months at one-second intervals. Data is recorded in ".txt" format.
  • Alerts: Supports email alerts, text message alerts (SMS), and SNMP traps for temperature alarms, humidity alarms, system failure, and SD card errors.

I/O and Power

  • Relay Outputs: Two 1.5 Amp output relays @ 30 Vdc controlled by alarm conditions.
  • Digital I/O: Two contact inputs (TTL 0.5 mA with 10K pull-up) and one open collector output (150 mA @ 30 Vdc).
  • Power Supply: Operates on 9 to 12 Vdc; includes a 100-240 Vac, 50/60Hz AC power adaptor with nominal 9 Vdc output. A backup 9 Vdc alkaline battery provides up to two days of operation during AC failure.

Key Product Differences

The series is available in distinct configurations based on probe type and calibration requirements:

  • iSD-TH: Standard configuration with a right angle probe and 1.8 m (6') extension cable.
  • iSD-TH-5: Configuration featuring the industrial 137 mm (5") probe with a 3 m (10') cable.

Replacement probes are offered as separate accessories, including standard right angle probes (iSDTHP) and industrial probes (iSDTHP-5). Probe caps include porous polyethylene options for wet environments (right angle: iP-PCW-10P; industrial: iP-PCI-10P) and a porous stainless steel cap with 5 μm porosity for dusty or pressurized (<35 psi) environments (iP-SC).

Calibration options include NIST traceable certificates covering three humidity points (25%, 50%, 75%) at one temperature point (25°C), available as a standalone certificate (CAL-3-HU) or bundled with replacement probes. A calibration kit containing 33% and 75% RH standards is also listed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Frustrated and dissappointed It would be a great product if the manufacture would be willing to supply the end user with proper instructions so the product will work as it was designed. In the title description it says " Environmental Monitoring and Recording over the Internet" But the manufacture lacks the knowledge to help make the product work as designed.

Can I specify an SMTP server by hostname rather than IP address? Office 365 only allows SMTP Server: smtp.office365.com as alpha numeric characters but the web portal on the iSD-TH device only accepts IP address. Thank you.

Hi there, one question, what is the technology used in the humidity sensor?, what type of sensor is it?

Asked by: Carlos G
This a solid state sensor. A unique capacitive sensor element is used for measuring relative humidity while temperature is measured by a band-gap sensor

Is continuous recording possible? The unit I have produces a separate text file for each day. Manually combining 28 to 31 files for a monthly report isn't much fun. .

Is the unit supposed to require reconfiguration every time recording is paused? When I hit the standby button on mine I have to reset date, time, and recording preferences before it will work again.
