Supported Applications
The Omega OMEGAPHONE® Eight Channel Alarm Dialers (OMA-VM606 series) are alarm systems designed to monitor up to eight switch closures, specifically dry contacts. Documented sensor applications include magnetic door and window switches, thermostats, fluid level switches, and motion sensors.
The system detects deviations from a programmed 'normal' state or power outages exceeding a user-defined delay. Upon activation, the unit sounds an alarm buzzer, closes an alarm relay, and initiates emergency calls to up to eight pre-programmed phone or pager numbers. The OMA-VM606E variant adds Ethernet data collection for remote monitoring and control via TCP/IP/UDP protocols.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series operates within an ambient temperature range of 0 to 52°C (32 to 125°F). Power is supplied by a 120 Vac 50/60 Hz wall mount transformer, with a built-in rechargeable battery providing up to 24 hours of backup. The unit features two pluggable 12-position terminal blocks for electrical connections and an integral LCD display.
Performance specifications include:
- Inputs: Eight dry contact inputs (5 Vdc, 2 mA source).
- Time Delay Range: Configurable from 0 to 999 minutes per input before callout.
- Power Outage Alarm Time Delay: Maximum of 900 minutes with a default setting of 5 minutes.
- Ringing Detection: Answers incoming calls after 1 to 20 rings.
- Audio Output: A local alarm buzzer rated at 90 dB.
Configuration Options
The OMA-VM606 series is available in two configurations: the standard eight-channel dialer and an Ethernet-enabled model. Both variants support voice programming via touch-tone phone instructions, allowing users to record identification messages without physical access.
- Callout Capacity: Stores up to eight callout numbers, each supporting 20 digits.
- Messaging: Records an 8-second local unit ID message and individual 5-second channel identification messages for each input.
- Alarm Relay Output: SPDT (1 A, 24 Vdc), user-selectable to energize automatically during emergencies or be remotely controlled via touch-tone phone.
- Ethernet Data Collection (OMA-VM606E only): Supports Ethernet LAN connections using RJ45 connectors. The interface supports 10Base-T and 100Base-TX auto-sensing with TCP/IP and UDP transport protocols. LED indicators display link status (Off, Amber for 10 Mbps, Green for 100 Mbps) and activity status.
- Physical Construction: ABS plastic housing measuring 127 H x 191 W x 45 mm D (5.0 x 7.5 x 1.75") with a weight of 1.4 kg (3 lb).
Key Product Differences
The series distinguishes between two primary models based on connectivity options:
- OMA-VM606: Eight channel alarm dialer with a standard RJ11 phone jack connection.
- OMA-VM606E: Eight channel alarm dialer including Ethernet data collection features and an RJ45 connector. This variant is compatible with Omega's Data Capture Software for IP address configuration, network troubleshooting, and communication testing.
The OMEGACARE™ extended warranty program is available as an option to extend the standard 1-year coverage to a total of 2 years when ordered with specific accessories such as OCW-1. The unit operates on the same phone line as an answering machine and includes pushbutton alarm cancellation that silences the buzzer and cancels emergency telephone calls.

Hi, I purchased 18 of these auto dialers and we are noticing that there is a delay of about 5-6 seconds when he phone is answered with the time period to the minimum. Is there a way to minimum the time to 2 or 3 seconds?
Thank you for your question. Please direct the issues you are having to our DAS Engr Dept for review. Their e-mail is DAS@OMEGA.COM
