Supported Applications

The EA34-TX Series is the 3/4" UNF version of Michell Instruments' Easidew 2-wire dew-point transmitter, a compact loop-powered instrument for measuring moisture content in gases. Delivering its reading as a standard current signal, it threads directly into a process line or sample block and reports dryness continuously to a controller, PLC, or monitoring system.

It is well suited to natural gas, hydrogen, nitrogen, air, and inert gas systems, and to compressed-gas drying where product quality depends on low moisture. The 3/4" UNF thread makes the EA34-TX a straightforward fit for common sample-block and adapter fittings, giving reliable, long-term dew-point monitoring.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The transmitter measures dew point over -110 to +20°C (-166 to +68°F), with a companion range of -100 to +20°C (-148 to +68°F), resolving readings to 0.01 °C. It holds an accuracy of ±0.5 °C / ±0.9 °F with a repeatability of ±0.2 °C, and provides a typical T90 response of less than 10 seconds.

Output is a 4–20 mA loop signal with RS485 / Modbus RTU communications, powered from 10–30 VDC into a load of up to 500 Ω at 24 VDC, terminated through a DIN 43650 or M12 connector. The sensor withstands pressures up to 45 MPa (450 barg / 6500 psig), and its wetted parts use 316L stainless steel with an HMWPE guard.

The EA34-TX carries an IP67 enclosure and operates over a process range of -100 °C to +100 °C, an ambient range of -40 °C to +85 °C, and storage to -40 °C to +85 °C. The probe measures 12 mm in diameter with a 25 mm insertion length, a 50 mm stem, and a 100 mm overall length. Approvals include ATEX, IECEx, UL, CSA, and NEC.

Configuration Options

The EA34-TX is ordered as a configured transmitter on a fixed 3/4" UNF thread, with a letter-based code that fixes each remaining feature to the application. The configurable axes are:

  • Range — a -100 to +20°C or -110 to +20°C dew-point range, or a non-standard configured range in °C, °F, or ppmV.
  • Protection — a standard HDPE guard against fine particulates, or a stainless-steel sintered guard.
  • Oxygen cleaning — standard, or cleaned for oxygen service, which is offered only with the stainless-steel sintered guard.

Because the process thread is fixed, the choices that change the delivered instrument are the guard type and oxygen-cleaning selection, which together govern particulate protection and suitability for oxygen-enriched media, while the range option sets the span over which the transmitter is scaled.

Key Product Differences

Ordering follows the parent code and its three feature positions, EA34-TX - <Range> - <Protection> - <Oxygen Cleaning>. The lineup spans the letter combinations from EA34-TX-AAA through EA34-TX-BBA, for example:

  • EA34-TX-ABB — Easidew 2-wire transmitter with the -100 to +20°C range, a stainless-steel sintered guard, and oxygen-cleaned wetted parts.
  • EA34-TX-RAA — non-standard range built to customer specification with an HDPE guard and no oxygen cleaning; the range is specified at time of order.

Under the previous ordering system the same choices were expressed as the base model plus feature codes for range, guard, and oxygen cleaning. Across every configuration the core sensing platform and 3/4" UNF thread stay the same — the model number simply records the chosen range, guard, and oxygen-cleaning options.
