Supported Applications

Dwyer Gage Fluids are designed for use in Dwyer manometers and gages. The series includes red, blue, violet, and fluorescein green color concentrate fluids tailored to specific instrument requirements.

  • Inclined Manometers: Red gage fluid (0.826 sp. gr.) serves as the standard fluid for inclined manometer applications.
  • Vertical Manometers: Red gage fluid is specified for "D" type vertical manometers and all Dwyer gages using red fluid. Violet gage fluid may be used in place of water if a better meniscus is desired.
  • Special Instruments: Blue gage fluid (1.910 sp. gr.) is intended for special instruments, including Mark II Models 26 and 28.
  • Water Coloring Agent: Fluorescein green color concentrate acts as a water coloring agent containing a wetting agent to improve meniscus characteristics; it is designated for use in vertical manometers only when diluted with distilled water.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series performance is defined by the specific gravity of each fluid type, which determines its suitability for different pressure ranges and instrument scales. No electrical specifications or measurement accuracy values are provided as these are consumable fluids rather than active sensors.

The fluorescein green color concentrate is not to be used full strength; the documented preparation requires adding 3/4 oz of concentrate to a quart of distilled water.

  • A-104: Red gage fluid (826 sp. gr.) in a 1 qt plastic bottle with screw cap.
  • A-110: Blue gage fluid (1.910 sp. gr.) in a 1 oz unbreakable plastic dispenser bottle.
  • A-120: Violet gage fluid (1.000 sp. gr.) in a 1 oz unbreakable plastic dispenser bottle.
  • A-122: Violet gage fluid (1.000 sp. gr.) in a 1 pt plastic bottle with screw cap.
  • A-126: Fluorescein green color concentrate in a 1 oz unbreakable plastic dispenser bottle.

Key Product Differences

The primary distinction between variants is the fluid type and specific gravity, which dictates the instrument compatibility. Red fluid (0.826 sp. gr.) is standard for inclined manometers and "D" type vertical manometers. Blue fluid (1.910 sp. gr.) is reserved for special instruments such as Mark II Models 26 and 28. Violet fluid (1.000 sp. gr.) provides an alternative to water with improved meniscus visibility.

Can you mix the Blue gage fluid with water? At what temperature will it freeze?

Hello, The blue gauge fluid should not be mixed with water. Unfortunately, we do not have data available about its freezing point.
