Supported Applications
The Weiss Series TL pressure gauges are designed for general service and HVAC applications. These instruments measure pressure, vacuum, or compound ranges on air, oil, water, gas, and other mediums that do not attack brass.
Operating Conditions & Performance
Series TL40 models feature a 4 1/2" dial size with dual-scale graduations. Accuracy is specified as ± 2% of the middle third of the entire range, meeting ANSI-ASME B40.1 Grade B standards. The gauges operate within an ambient temperature range of -40 to 150°F.
Measurement ranges available in this series include:
- Pressure (psi): 0–15, 0–30, 0–60, 0–100, 0–160, 0–200, 0–300, 0–400, and 0–600 psi.
- Vacuum: 0–30"Hg (inches of mercury).
- Compound: Ranges such as 30-0-150 psi are available in the broader Series TL family, with specific dual-scale options for ranges from 15 to 200 psi offering psi & Ft H₂O scales.
All dial ranges are offered in dual scale configurations (psi & kPa or psi & Kg/cm²). For steam service applications, the installation of a coil type syphon is recommended to protect the gauge from excessive temperature.
Configuration Options
The Series TL40 configuration includes specific dimensional and connection attributes:
- Housing Material: Brass wetted parts (bronze, phosphor bronze, copper alloy) with a drawn steel case.
- Dial Size: 4 1/2" face diameter.
- Process Connection: 1/4" NPT lower connection is standard for the TL40 model code (e.g., suffix "-4L").
- Mounting Options: U-clamp available for panel mount applications; center back or lower connections are configurable across the Series TL family.
- Dual Scale Graduations: Standard on all ranges, with specific dual-scale options (psi & Ft H₂O) available for 15 to 200 psi ranges.
Key Product Differences
The Series TL family encompasses multiple dial sizes and connection styles. The "TL40" designation specifically identifies the 4 1/2" gauge with a lower process connection (suffix -4L). Other variants in the broader series include:
- Dial Sizes: Available from 1 1/2" to 4 1/2" across Series TL.
- Connection Locations: Lower or center back connections are offered depending on catalog number (e.g., -8L, -4B).
- NPT Sizes: Connections vary by dial size; the 4 1/2" model utilizes a 1/4" NPT connection.
