Supported Applications

The Weiss Series TL is a line of general service pressure gauges designed for HVAC and industrial applications. These instruments measure pressure, vacuum, or compound ranges on media including air, oil, water, gas, and other mediums that do not attack brass.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series operates within an ambient temperature range of -40 to 150°F. Accuracy is specified as ANSI-ASME B40.1 Grade B (±2% of the middle third of the entire scale). The gauges feature wetted materials constructed from bronze, brass, phosphor bronze, and copper alloy.

Measurement Ranges

The Series TL supports a broad envelope of pressure ranges:

  • Pressure (psi): 0-15 psi through 0-600 psi. Specific increments include 0-30, 0-60, 0-100, 0-160, and 0-200 psi.
  • Vacuum: 0 to 30"Hg (inches of mercury).
  • Compound: Ranges such as 30"Hg-15psi through 30"Hg-150psi are available in the broader Series TL family.

Dual scale dials are offered for ranges from 15 psi to 200 psi, displaying units in both psi and Ft H2O. Other dual scale options include psi & kPa or psi & Kg/cm² across all available dial ranges.

Graduations

The specification tables define figure intervals and minor graduations for each range. For example, the 0-15 psi range features a figure interval of 1 with 0.5 minor graduation; the 0-60 psi range lists a figure interval of 5 with 1.0 minor graduation.

Configuration Options

The Series TL is configurable across multiple dial sizes, connection types, and mounting orientations to accommodate specific installation needs.

Dial Sizes & Catalog Numbers

  • 1 1/2" Dial: Catalog No. TL15 (Note: Ranges are not available on TL15).
  • 2" Dial: Catalog Nos. TL20 and TL28.
  • 2 1/2" Dial: Catalog No. TL25.
  • 3 1/2" Dial: Catalog No. TL35.
  • 4 1/2" Dial: Catalog No. TL45.

Process Connections & Mounting

The series offers both lower and center back connection styles with the following NPT sizes:

  • Lower Connection (L): 1/8" or 1/4" NPT depending on dial size.
  • Center Back Connection (B): 1/8" or 1/4" NPT. The TL20 model specifically supports both 1/8" and 1/4" connections for center back mounting.

A U-Clamp is available as an option for panel mount applications.

Special Service Options

  • Steam Service: A coil type syphon can be installed to protect the gauge from excessive temperature in steam service applications.

Key Product Differences

The Series TL family includes distinct catalog numbers based on dial size and connection configuration. The TL15 is limited to a 1/8" NPT lower or center back connection, while larger sizes (TL20 through TL45) support both 1/8" and 1/4" connections depending on the specific model row.

Model numbers follow the format: Series Code - Dial Size - Range Code - Size & Location. For example, a TL20 with a 15 psi range and 1/4" lower connection is designated as TL20-015-4L. The suffix indicates the NPT size (8 for 1/8", 4 for 1/4") and location (B for Center Back, L for Lower).

While the broader catalog includes Series DG diaphragm gauges and Fire Protection Sprinkler Service Gauges with UL and Factory Mutual approvals, these are distinct product families from the general service Series TL.
