The Omega Dual Metric Mineral Insulated Thermocouple Cable series provides metal-sheathed thermocouple wire insulated from each other and the sheath by highly compacted magnesium oxide (MgO). This construction supports temperature measurement applications requiring rugged, continuous lengths of dual-element sensor cable. The series is available in U.S. and European configurations to accommodate diverse installation requirements.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series features a diameter range from 1.0 mm to 6.0 mm for standard variants, with specific model numbers extending the envelope up to 8.0 mm as indicated in available part configurations. The core measurement technology is thermocouple-based, utilizing dual-element construction within a mineral-insulated metal sheath.

Configuration Options

The series supports extensive configuration options across sensor types, sheath materials, and physical dimensions to meet specific process needs.

  • Sensor Types: Available in Type E, J, K, N, and T thermocouple calibrations. For Type N applications, the model number uses "N" instead of "K" with no additional cost.
  • Sheath Materials: Options include 304 Stainless Steel (standard), 310 SS, 316 SS, 321 SS, Inconel® 600, and Super OMEGACLAD™ XL. Special sheathing materials such as Hastelloy-X are available on special order.
  • Diameters: Standard diameters include 1.0 mm, 1.5 mm, 2.0 mm, 3.0 mm, 4.5 mm, and 6.0 mm. Larger sizes up to 8.0 mm are available in specific configurations.
  • Wire Configuration: Standard dual parallel wire is offered; a dual diagonal wire configuration is available by adding the "-DIA" suffix with no additional cost.
  • Limits of Error: Special Limits of Error (SLE) are supported by appending the "-SLE" suffix to the model number, which incurs an additional cost.

Continuous lengths are available upon request. The minimum order length is 5 meters. OMEGACLAD™ wire is supplied within ±10% of the specified length, with prices adjusted accordingly.

Key Product Differences

Variants in this series differ primarily by thermocouple type (E, J, K, N, T), sheath material grade (304, 310, 316, 321, Inconel® 600, Super OMEGACLAD™ XL), and diameter. Model numbers reflect these selections; for example, changing the "304" prefix to "310", "316", or "321" selects the corresponding stainless steel sheath without additional cost. Similarly, replacing "304" with "XL" designates Super OMEGACLAD™ XL (consult Sales for pricing), and using "HASTX" indicates Hastelloy-X.

Accessories include a Thermocouple Wire Stripper designed specifically for metal-sheathed or OMEGACLAD™ wire. Custom assemblies featuring special sheathing, insulation, and thermocouple alloys are available on special order.

I'd like to use these MGO as load thermocouples in our ovens. you have the diameter that I want, but I'm wondering if I can get these 10ft long? and I also need them to come with a certification of calibration. Is this possible?

Hi Tristan, We offer custom length thermocouples up to 10 ft. via the "Configure Now" button". This brings up a window which allows you to build up the probe needed and add optional NIST traceable calibration. We offer similar configurators on other probe styles as well. Best regards OMEGA
