Supported Applications
The Omega DHT Series consists of high-temperature dual element heating tapes designed for wrapping around laboratory glassware and apparatus. Documented applications include graduated cylinders, flasks, beakers, distillers, and tubing.
Operating Conditions & Performance
Dual Element Heavy Insulated Heating Tapes in the DHT Series feature a maximum exposure temperature of 760°C (1400°F). The series utilizes high-temperature fiberglass sheath material reinforced for added strength and durability. Power density is specified as 13.1 watts/in² (0.020 watts/mm²) suitable for electrical conductive surfaces.
Electrical operation supports power supplies of 120 Vac or 240 Vac. The series includes a dual heating element construction to provide even heat across the tape.
Safety and Installation Requirements
- The heater must be connected to an external control device; it must not be operated without some form of temperature control.
- Do not immerse the heater in liquid or use in hazardous locations.
- Avoid sharp metal objects, kinks, twists, or overlapping the tape on itself during installation.
- Fasten the heater to the device using aluminum tape, fiberglass tape, or mechanical clamping devices that will not cause damage.
Configuration Options
The DHT Series is available in two widths and multiple lengths configured for specific voltage requirements. The series supports 13 mm (0.5") and 25.4 mm (1") tape widths with lengths ranging from 0.61 m (2') to 3.66 m (12').
Electrical Connections by Voltage
- 120 Vac models: Standard 2-prong power plug (NEMA 1-15).
- 240 Vac models: Bare wire connection.
Included Accessories
The series comes complete with an operator's manual and includes 230 mm (9") L high temperature tie downs for easy installation. Power leads are provided at a length of 610 mm (24").
Key Product Differences
Variants within the DHT Series differ by width, total length, and operating voltage, which determines wattage output.
- Dual Element Construction: The series is distinguished from other OMEGALUX™ tapes (such as FGH or SRT) by its dual element design suitable for conductive surfaces.
- Voltage Configuration: 120 Vac models feature a standard plug, while 240 Vac models utilize bare wire connections requiring direct wiring to the power source or temperature control device through a junction box.

I have using it to heat up electrical PVC pipes from size 0.5 to 3 ". Cheaper, faster and easier then other special devices. Only one Omega product, it can be replaced for 3 others in application to heat up then bend PVC pipes.

Can I use this with omega bench top controller ?
Thank you for your inquiry. You can use a benchtop controller. Make sure the current draw from the heater does not exceed the controller's relay current rating.

Can this be connected to your omega cn7523 temperature controller? Or does it require some kind of hub for the 120v plug end?
Thanks for your inquiry. Most of our rope heaters have stripped ends and can be directly connected to controllers such as the CN7523; this heater has a formed plug at the end. In order to use w/ this controller and others of its type, you will need to cut the plug off, and wire according to manual instructions. There is no receptacle on the CN7523 that will directly take this heater plug connection.
