Supported Applications
The Dwyer Series DLD is a dual channel leak detection relay designed to monitor the shaft seals of two submersible pump motors. The unit detects leaks by sensing the status of a resistive float switch or conductivity switch installed in the seal cavity. When resistance drops below the sensitivity rating, the output relay energizes and an LED indicator illuminates. This configuration allows engineers to trigger an alarm or de-energize the pump before failure occurs.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The Series DLD operates on a 120 VAC, 50/60 Hz power supply with approximately 2 VA consumption. The unit provides isolation voltage of 2500 V and features response times of approximately 6 ms to energize and 2.5 ms to release. Ambient operating temperature limits are -4 to 131°F (-20 to 55°C), while storage temperatures range from -40 to 185°F (-40 to 85°C). The relay contacts support an electrical rating of 5 A @ 120 VAC resistive and 345 VA inductive. Each channel includes a respective red LED that illuminates when a leak is detected.
Configuration Options
The series offers two distinct models with adjustable sensitivity ranges to accommodate different switch types:
- DLD-ACY: Sensitivity range of 10 K to 25 K Ω (adjustable).
- DLD-ACZ: Sensitivity range of 4.7 K to 100 K Ω (adjustable).
The unit mounts via an 8-pin octal socket and includes a polycarbonate dust cover for enclosure protection. Output signals consist of two normally open (N.O.) SPST relay contacts with a switch voltage of 9 VDC excitation.
Key Product Differences
The primary distinction between the Series DLD variants is the adjustable sensitivity range required by the specific float or conductivity switches used in the seal cavity. The DLD-ACY model supports lower resistance thresholds (10 K to 25 K Ω), while the DLD-ACZ offers a broader span from 4.7 K to 100 K Ω. Both models share identical physical dimensions of 3 [76.20] height, 2-3/8 [60.32] width, and 1-3/4 [44.45] depth, with a weight of 8 oz (227 g). Agency approvals include UL 508, cUR, and UR.
