Supported Applications

The Omega FLD1000/FLD2000 Series comprises direct read in-line and panel variable area flow meters designed for medium flow range measurements. These rugged PTFE flow meters incorporate traditional variable area precision glass technology to provide accurate solutions for air and water applications.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series delivers an accuracy of +5% of full scale with a nominal scale length of 127 mm (5"). Flow tubes are constructed from heavy-walled, precision-formed borosilicate glass protected by polycarbonate tube shields. Each unit is individually tested on a Mass Spectrometer Leak Detector and certified to a leak integrity rating of 1 x 10-7 SCCS Helium or better.

Operating limits vary by body material:

  • Metal Body (316 SS/Brass): Maximum process temperature is 65°C (150°F); maximum pressure is 10.3 bar (150 psig) @ 93°C (200°F).
  • PTFE Body: Maximum process temperature is 121°C (250°F); ambient operating temperature limit is 93°C (200°F). Maximum pressure for PTFE bodies is 6.7 bar (100 psig) @ ambient temperature.

Configuration Options

The FLD1000/FLD2000 series supports unique rotatable scales featuring dual air-water direct reading graduations, displaying SCFM and SLPM for air, as well as GPM and LPM for water. The series is available in vertical in-line (FLD1xxx) and panel mount (FLD2xxx) configurations with the following material options:

  • Wetted Parts & Floats: PTFE, brass, or 316 SS.
  • Housing Materials: PTFE for PTFE units; 316 SS and brass are available. Seals utilize PTFE generally, with FKM seals specified for 316 SS and brass units.

Process connections are provided as 3/8-18 FNPT female in-line or horizontal rear. Models include options with an integrated valve (e.g., FLD1001) or without a valve (designated by the "-NV" suffix, e.g., FLD1001-NV). An oxygen cleaning option is available; add “-O2CLEAN” to the model number for additional cost. NIST traceable calibration is not offered.

Measurement Ranges

The series covers a broad envelope of flow rates depending on the specific model and material:

  • Air (SCFM): 3.5 to 30 SCFM across available models.
  • Air (SLPM): 100 to 900 SLPM.
  • Water (GPM): 0.8 to 5 GPM.
  • Water (LPM): 3 to 20 LPM.

Key Product Differences

The series is divided into two primary mounting styles with distinct dimensional profiles:

  • Vertical In-Line Series (FLD1xxx):
  • Standard Metal/Brass units measure 47.63 mm (1.875 in) wide, 282.57 mm (11.125 in) high, and 19.05 mm (0.75 in) deep.
  • PTFE Vertical In-Line units measure 47.63 mm (1.875 in) wide, 175.26 mm (6.90 in) high, and 19.05 mm (0.75 in) deep.
  • Panel Mount Series (FLD2xxx):
  • Standard Metal/Brass units measure 47.63 mm (1.875 in) wide, 263.53 mm (10.375 in) high, and 19.05 mm (0.75 in) deep.
  • PTFE Panel Mount units measure 51.82 mm (2.04 in) wide, 283.46 mm (11.16 in) high, and 133.60 mm (5.26 in) deep.

Model numbering follows the pattern FLD - - . For example, FLD1001 denotes a vertical stainless steel unit with a valve, while FLD1201 indicates a PTFE vertical in-line unit. The "-NV" suffix identifies units without valves.
