Supported Applications
The Omega DRST-UR is a DIN rail universal programmable signal conditioner and transmitter designed for industrial process automation. It accepts inputs from RTDs, thermocouples (TC), linear resistance sensors, potentiometers, current loops, and voltage signals to condition them into standardized outputs or relay actions.
Engineers deploy the DRST-UR in applications requiring:
- Signal conversion for temperature measurement using Pt10...Pt1000 (IEC 60751), Ni50...Ni1000 (DIN 43760), Cu10...Cu100, and thermocouple types B, E, J, K, L, N, R, S, T, U, W3, W5, and LR.
- Process monitoring with programmable setpoint or window relay outputs for alarm indication.
- Safety-critical installations designed according to strict safety requirements suitable for SIL 2 applications (IEC 61508).
- Hazardous location environments certified under FM Ex / I.S. Class I, Div. 2, Group A, B, C, D; Class I, Div. 2, Group IIC; and Zone 2.
- Marine applications approved by Det Norske Veritas (Ships & Offshore Standard for Certification No. 2.4).
Operating Conditions & Performance
The DRST-UR operates within an ambient temperature range of -20°C to +60°C, with a calibration reference at 20...28°C and relative humidity < 95% RH (non-condensing). The device features IP20 protection and is designed for vibration resistance per IEC 60068-2-6 : 2007.
Performance specifications include:
- Absolute Accuracy: ≤ ±0.1% of span (general value, all input types) with a temperature coefficient ≤ ±0.01% of span/°C.
- Basic Accuracy by Input Type: mA ≤ ±4 µA; Volt ≤ ±20 µV; Pt100 ≤ ±0.2°C; Linear resistance and Potentiometer ≤ ±0.1 Ω; TC E/J/K/L/N/T/U ≤ ±1°C; TC R/S/W3/W5/LR ≤ ±2°C; TC B (85...200°C) ≤ ±4°C; TC B (200...1820°C) ≤ ±2°C.
- Response Time: Temperature input ≤ 1 s (0...90%, 100...10%); mA / V input ≤ 400 ms.
- EMC Immunity Influence: < ±0.5% of span; extended EMC immunity NAMUR NE 21, A criterion, burst < ±1% of span.
The unit provides 4-port galvanic isolation with a test voltage of 2.3 kVAC and operational isolation of 250 VAC.
Configuration Options
The DRST-UR series supports extensive configuration options for inputs, outputs, and communication interfaces to accommodate diverse process requirements without requiring multiple hardware platforms.
Input Configurations
- RTD: Supports Pt10...Pt1000 (-200°C to +850°C), Ni50...Ni1000 (-60°C to +250°C), and Cu10...Cu100 (-200°C to +260°C). Includes sensor error detection, short circuit detection (< 15 Ω), and support for 3- or 4-wire connections.
- Thermocouple: Covers types B (0°C to +1820°C), E (-100°C to +1000°C), J (-100°C to +1200°C), K (-180°C to +1372°C), L, N, R, S, T, U, W3 (0°C to +2300°C), W5 (0°C to +2300°C), and LR. Features internal or external cold junction compensation (CJC) via connector 5910.

Output & Relay Functions
- Analog Output: Programmable current output (0...20 mA span; ranges include 4...20 / 20...0 / 20...4 mA) with a max load of 800 Ω at 16 VDC. Voltage output available in the 0...10 VDC range with programmable spans.
- Relay Outputs: Two relays rated for max. 250 VRMS, 2 A / AC or 1 A / DC (max. 500 VA). Configurable functions include Setpoint, Window, Sensor error, Latch, Power, and Off.
- Error Handling: Supports NAMUR NE 43 upscale/downscale signaling (23 mA / 3.5 mA) for sensor faults.
Housing & Mounting
The device mounts on a DIN rail per SYSTEM 4000, DIN 46277 standards with overall dimensions of 109 x 23.5 x 104 mm (HxBxD). Dimensions increase to 109 x 23.5 x 116/131 mm when equipped with the DRSL-DISPLAY or DRST-CM accessories.
Key Product Differences
The core model is identified as DRST-UR. Functional variations are achieved through configuration rather than distinct hardware SKUs, supported by optional accessories:
- DRSL-DISPLAY: A removable display and programming front that provides an LCD with 4 lines. It enables process calibration, signal simulation, relay simulation, password protection, error diagnostics, and help text in multiple languages. The unit can copy configuration from one DRST-UR to subsequent transmitters.
- DRST-CM: A communication enabler for data exchange capabilities.
- CJC Connector 5910: An external sensor connector (ordered separately) used for cold junction compensation in thermocouple applications, offering improved accuracy over internal CJC sensors when ambient temperatures deviate from the calibration range.
The series supports a universal power supply of 21.6...253 VAC (50...60 Hz) or 19.2...300 VDC with max consumption ≤ 2.5 W and an internal fuse rated at 400 mA SB / 250 VAC.
