Supported Applications
The Dwyer Series TS3 Digital Temperature Switch is designed for on/off heating or cooling control applications. The unit features a built-in real-time clock to support HACCP logging of temperature alarms triggered by temperatures outside set limits or power loss events. In refrigeration systems, the switch can initiate defrost cycles based on time intervals or via front panel key commands.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The Series TS3 operates within an ambient temperature range of 32 to 131°F (0 to 55°C). Measurement ranges depend on the selected probe type: -58 to 302°F (-50 to 150°C) for PTC probes and -58 to 230°F (-50 to 110°C) for NTC probes. The device provides a resolution of 0.1° with an accuracy of ±1% FS. Input specifications are defined as 1000Ω @ 25°C for PTC sensors and 10KΩ @ 25°C for NTC sensors.
The front panel carries an IP65 rating. Installation warnings specify that the unit must be mounted away from vibration, impacts, water, and corrosive gases. Additionally, temperature probe cables and digital input wires should not be installed in close proximity to power cables. If the probe cable length exceeds 100 meters, recalibration adjustment may be required using parameter P1.
Configuration Options
The series offers multiple supply voltage configurations identified by model suffixes: TS3-50010 (115 VAC), TS3-50020 (230 VAC), TS3-50030 (12 VAC/VDC), and TS3-50040 (24 VAC/DC). Power requirements are specified as 115 VAC, 230 VAC, 12 VAC/VDC, or 24 VAC/DC with a tolerance of ±10% depending on the model. Power consumption is listed as 3.6VA for 115/230/24V models and 1.5VA for 12V models.
Key configurable features include:
- Output Signal: R1 SPDT relay with a resistive load of 16A, inductive load of 10 FLA, and 60 LRA @ 240 VAC. The unit supports a horsepower rating of 1HP @ 240 VAC.
- Display: 3 digits plus sign with non-volatile memory backup.
- Field Selection: Engineering units and temperature probe types are field-selectable to reduce inventory requirements.
The Series TS3 is not field serviceable; if repair is needed, the unit should be returned. Cleaning must avoid abrasive detergents, petrol, alcohol, or solvents.
Key Product Differences
Variants within the series differ primarily by supply power code and corresponding voltage input:
- TS3-50010: 115 VAC
- TS3-50020: 230 VAC
- TS3-50030: 12 VAC/VDC
- TS3-50040: 24 VAC/DC
The series supports optional accessories including the TS2-K configuration key for programming multiple units and downloading parameter settings, as well as a TS485 module for communication with computers or other devices. Digital Temperature Switch Probes are available separately (Series TS-Probes). Agency approvals include CE, cUR, and UR.
