Supported Applications

The Omega DPG2001B and DPG2004B Series are battery-powered digital pressure gauges designed for gage, absolute, vacuum, and compound/bipolar measurements. The series supports applications requiring six max-reading memory locations with user-settable labels; the documentation explicitly lists aircraft landing gear tire positions (NLG 1/2, MLG 1–4) as a configurable use case.

These gauges are suitable for liquids and gases compatible with 316L stainless steel. The product overview notes that units include selectable engineering units to accommodate various measurement needs without external signal conditioning.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series delivers an accuracy of ±0.25% FS ±1 least significant digit, which includes linearity, hysteresis, and repeatability. Measurement ranges span from 3.000 to 5000 psig for gage pressure; absolute ranges include 15.00 to 0, 30.00 to 0, and 100.0 to 0 psi; vacuum is available as 0 to -15.00 psi; and compound/bipolar options cover -15.0 to 15.0, -15.0 to 100.0, and -15.0 to 200.0 psi.

Operating ambient temperature is specified as -4 to 185°F (-20 to 85°C), with a compensated range of 32 to 158°F (0 to 70°C). Storage temperatures are rated from -40 to 203°F (-40 to 95°C). The display updates at a nominal rate of 3 readings per second. Overpressure limits vary by range: the 3000 psig and 5000 psig ranges support overpressures up to 5000 psig and 7500 psig respectively, while all other ranges are rated for 2 X pressure range. Burst pressure is defined as 4 X sensor pressure rating or 10,000 psi, whichever is less.

Power & Display

The gauges operate on two AA alkaline batteries (included). Battery life is approximately 2000 hours for standard models and ranges from 150 to 1500 hours depending on backlight usage for -BL models. A low battery symbol appears on the display when power is depleted.

Process Connection & Materials

The process connection is a ¼ in NPT male fitting constructed of 316L stainless steel. The wetted material is specified as 316 SS (stainless steel). Due to the hardness of this material, installation instructions recommend using thread sealant and tightening only on the hex fitting.

Configuration Options

The series offers two primary housing configurations: DPG2001B with an extruded aluminum case (epoxy powder coated) featuring ABS/polycarbonate bezel, front/rear gaskets, and polycarbonate label; and DPG2004B with a NEMA 4X rated ABS/polycarbonate case. Both housings weigh approximately 9 ounces.

Configurable Options

  • -BL: Adds red LED backlighting, activated for one minute via front button press.
  • -NIST: Provides a 5-point NIST calibration option (factory calibrated using equipment traceable to NIST).

Selectable Engineering Units

The gauges feature up to 17 selectable engineering units depending on the range, including psi, inHg, ftH2O, oz/in², g/cm², mmHg, torr, mbar, bar, mmH₂O, cmH₂O, kPa, MPa, kg/cm², and atm. Resolution is fixed for each selected unit.

Memory & Calibration

Six max-reading memory locations are available with user-settable labels (MEM 1–6 or aircraft tire designations). The calibration system includes pass-code protected access (default code 3510) allowing non-interactive zero, span, and linearity adjustments within ±10% of range. A front-panel auto-zero function is provided for gage reference models.

Key Product Differences

The DPG2001B series distinguishes between standard aluminum housings (DPG2001B) and NEMA 4X enclosures (DPG2004B). Model numbers follow the format Series-RangeCode-Options, such as DPG2001B-300G or DPG2004B-15V15G. Range codes define the measurement type and span: 'A' denotes absolute, 'Vac' indicates vacuum, compound ranges use combinations like 15V15G (±15 psig), and gage pressure uses numeric suffixes followed by 'G'.

Dimensions differ slightly between housings: DPG2001B measures approximately 3.38 in high x 2.88 in wide, while the NEMA 4X version (DPG2004B) is larger at 3.5 in high x 3.0 in wide to accommodate the ruggedized enclosure.

Does this have a port to apply digital output to a DAC or arduino? If so, can you please clarify the location in the manual? Also, how sensitive is this at low positive pressures? Can it differentiate as little as 1mmHg above atmospheric pressure?

Asked by: Jay1
Thank you for your question? This doesn't have a port to apply digital output to DAC or arduino. It displays what pressure range its measured. the lowest pressure range is 3 psi.

Does this DPG2001B-15V200G come with a NIST traceable certification? I don't see that info in the documentation

Asked by: You betcha
Thank you for your inquiry No the DPG2001B-15V200G does not include in this certification this unit comes with a certificate of conformance. A NIST certification can be added, this would add to the cost and lead-time of the unit.
