Supported Applications

The Omega CRC Series Curved Face Ceramic Radiant Heaters (E-Mitters) are designed for industrial process heating. These heaters emit infrared radiation in the 2.5–6 μm wavelength range and feature metamorphing colors that shift from rose to grey or yellow to orange depending on operating conditions.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The CRC Series operates with a maximum heater body temperature of 1420°F (771°C) at the highest watt density. The series supports power ratings up to 500 Watts per element, corresponding to a surface load of 43.18 Watts/in². At this rating, the primary emitted wavelength is 2.78 μm.

Performance remains unaffected by vibration or adverse atmospheric conditions. Standard voltages include 120 V, 220/240 V, and 480 Vac, with other voltages available dependent on design. The heaters are rated for a long operating life exceeding 10,000 hours.

Temperature performance varies by wattage as documented in the series specifications:

  • 125 Watts (10.8 W/in²): Heater body temperature reaches 756°F (402°C) with a primary wavelength of 4.29 μm.
  • 325 Watts (28.07 W/in²): Heater body temperature reaches 1156°F (624°C) with a primary wavelength of 3.23 μm.
  • 500 Watts (43.18 W/in²): Heater body temperature reaches 1420°F (771°C).

Configuration Options

The CRC Series is available in standard configurations with or without integrated thermocouples, and in two color variants: Rose to Grey or White. Electrical connections utilize ceramic bead insulated leads terminating in #8-10 spade terminals.

  • Thermocouple Options: Models are offered with a built-in Type K thermocouple (e.g., CRC10007) or without a sensor (e.g., CRC10005). A Type J thermocouple option is available for specific model numbers such as CRC10064.
  • Wattage and Voltage: Configurations range from 125 to 500 Watts. Available voltages include 120 V, 220/240 V, and 480 Vac.
  • Housing Assemblies: The series supports CRA Linear Structural Housing Assemblies (CRK housings) which combine multiple E-Mitters into single units. Standard housing lengths range from 5 inches to 70 inches with maximum power ratings up to 7 kW depending on the configuration of CRB and CRC elements.
  • Accessories: Reflectors are available for mounting (Model Numbers: CRK00007, CRK00049, etc.), along with a Standard Ceramic Terminal Block for internal wiring (EHD-108-101).

Key Product Differences

The CRC Series is one of five standard sizes in the Omega E-Mitter family; others include CRL, CRB, CRM, and CRS series. The CRC element overall dimension is 4.80" (122 mm).

Variants differ primarily by wattage density, voltage rating, color finish, and sensor inclusion:

  • Color Variations: Heaters are available in "Rose to Grey" or "White" finishes. The Rose to Grey variant is standard for most model numbers (e.g., CRC10024), while White variants exist as alternate options (e.g., CRC00024).
  • Sensor Integration: Model numbering distinguishes between units with a Type K thermocouple and those without. For example, the 325 Watt/120V configuration is available as CRC10018 (with sensor) or CRC00018 (without).
  • Housing Configurations: Linear housings allow combinations of CRB and CRC elements to achieve specific power outputs. For instance, a 5-inch housing supports one CRC element at 0.5 kW, while larger assemblies support multiple elements up to the maximum rated capacity.
