Supported Applications
The Omega NWHOIS series comprises circulation heaters engineered for highly corrosive solutions and oils. The product overview identifies specific applications including the heating of demineralized or de-ionized water, mildly corrosive solutions (pH5 to pH9), and steam superheating. Additionally, these units are designed for high-temperature gas applications utilizing INCOLOY elements within a Stainless Steel vessel.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The NWHOIS series operates with power ratings ranging from 2 kW to 30 kW across the documented models, supplied by 120V, 240V, or 480V at 1-Phase or 3-Phase configurations. The heaters feature a pressure rating of 150 Lb Construction and are capable of reaching outlet gas temperatures up to nearly 1400°F in air, gas, or steam superheating applications.
Wetted materials include Type 304 Stainless Steel Pipe Body (ASTM A312 ERW), Type 304 ASTM A240 or A479 Stainless Steel plate, and INCOLOY sheath elements. The pipe body is passivated to support corrosive service.
Configuration Options
The series offers configurable terminal enclosures designated as E1 General Purpose, E2 Moisture Resistant/Explosion Resistant, E3 Explosion Resistant, and E4 Moisture Resistant. Process connections are available in 1" NPT Pipe Inlet and Outlet configurations.
Control & Accessory Options
- Thermostats: Integral or Side Mounted options.
- Mechanical Controls: AR thermostats, Explosion-resistant and liquid-tight thermostats.
- Precision Control Systems: Temperature control panels with thermocouple sensors, electronic PID temperature controls, SCR power panels, solid state (SCR) or contactor power controllers.
Electrical connections utilize wiring terminals spaced to provide proper arcing and creepage clearances per the NEC. Termination insulators ensure electrical isolation between the terminals and the grounded metal sheath.
Key Product Differences
The NWHOIS series is distinct from related Omega circulation heater families (NWHMTSS, NWHIS) by its specific focus on highly corrosive solutions and oils using low watt density INCOLOY sheath elements. While the broader product line includes models with 3 to 18 kW ratings for pure water or mildly corrosive applications, the NWHOIS series specifically lists variants starting at 2 kW (e.g., NWHOIS-03-002P) and extending through 30 kW.
Model numbering follows the format NWHOIS-<Series>-<kW Code>-<Terminal Enclosure>/<Voltage>. For example, NWHOIS-06 denotes a six-element series configuration. Dimensional variations exist by model and enclosure type; for instance, the 2 kW models (NWHOIS-03) have dimensions of A=32⅝", B=22¼", C=16¼".
