Supported Applications

The Omega ARTM Series consists of screw plug immersion heaters designed for direct contact heating in clean water applications. These units feature an integral bulb and capillary thermostat to regulate temperature within specified ranges.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series operates on 120 or 240 Vac, 1 phase power supplies with wattage ratings from 0.75 to 3 kW. The heating element utilizes a copper sheath with a diameter of 0.800 cm (0.315"). Watt density ranges between 64 and 78 W/in² depending on the specific model configuration.

Temperature control is provided by an integral thermostat available in three distinct ranges:

  • 60 to 187°F
  • 60 to 240°F
  • 0 to 127°F

The process connection is a 1" Brass Screw Plug. The base enclosure rating is General purpose NEMA-1.

Safety and Control Limitations

Note: The integral thermostat functions as a temperature control only; it is not a fail-safe device. An approved pressure or temperature control should be used with these heaters to assure safe operation. Fire and electrical shock may result if products are used improperly, installed by non-qualified personnel, or operated outside specified parameters.

Configuration Options

The ARTM Series is configurable across power ratings, voltage inputs, thermostat ranges, and enclosure types to meet specific installation needs. The model number format follows the pattern: ARTM-<kW>-<Temp Range>-<Voltage>-<Enclosure>.

Housing and Enclosures

The series offers two primary enclosure configurations:

  • General Purpose (E1): Standard NEMA-1 rated enclosure. The E1 enclosure height is 10 cm (4"), while model dimension B ranges from 16 cm (6⅝") to 50 cm (19⅞"). Weight starts at approximately 1 kg (2.25 lb) for lower wattages.
  • Moisture Tight / Explosion Resistant (E2): An optional enclosure that meets Class I, groups C & D, Div. 1 & 2; Class II, Groups E, F & G, Div. 1&2; and Class III, Div. 1 & 2 requirements. This option adds approximately 1 kg (3 lb) to the base weight.

Electrical and Thermal Options

Voltage is designated by inserting "120" for 120 Vac or "240" for 240 Vac into the model number. The thermostat range is indicated in the part number (e.g., TH, TL) corresponding to the three available temperature spans.

Approvals and Origin

The heaters are UL Listed with general purpose enclosures and carry NRTL/C certification. They are Made in USA.

Key Product Differences

Variants within the ARTM Series differ primarily by power output, voltage compatibility, thermostat range selection, and enclosure rating. The 3 kW models (ARTM-3000) are available only at 240 Vac.

Model Number Structure

The series uses a structured naming convention to identify specific configurations:

  • kW Rating: Represented by the numeric value (e.g., 750, 1250, 3000).
  • Thermostat Range Codes: Suffixes such as "TH" or "TL" denote specific temperature ranges. For example, a model ending in TH corresponds to the 60 to 240°F range.
  • Voltage Designation: Appended as "/120V" or "/240V" (or embedded per ordering instructions).
  • Enclosure Code: The "E2" designation indicates the optional moisture tight/explosion resistant enclosure.

Example: ARTM-1250E2TH240 represents a 1.25 kW heater with a thermostat range of 60 to 240°F, powered by 240 Vac, and equipped with the moisture tight explosion resistant enclosure.
