Supported Applications

The Omega PHCN-37 Series is a microprocessor-based family of pH panel-mounted controllers designed for environmental monitoring applications. The series measures pH and temperature, featuring automatic or manual temperature compensation to support accurate readings across varying conditions.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The controller operates within a measurement range of 0 to 14.00 pH and supports process temperatures from 32 to 212°F (0 to 100°C). Accuracy is specified as ±0.03 pH, ±0.5°C for temperature, and 0.1 mV @ 25°C. The display provides a resolution of 0.01 pH and 0.1°C on a 4-digit LED with 13.7 mm (0.54") digits.

Electrical performance includes an input impedance greater than 10¹² Ω. Temperature compensation is available manually or automatically using Pt 100 Ω or Pt 1000 Ω sensors over the 0 to 100°C range.

Configuration Options

The PHCN-37 Series offers configurable power supplies, output signals, and relay configurations suitable for diverse installation requirements. The unit features a ½ DIN panel cutout of 45 H x 92 mm W (1.772 x 3.622") with overall dimensions of 48 H x 96 W x 177 mm D (1.89 x 3.78 x 7.00").

Power and Output Options

  • Power Supply: Available in 115 Vac, 230 Vac, or 10 to 32 Vdc configurations.
  • Analog Outputs: Scalable software-selectable outputs include 4 to 20 mA, 0 to 20 mA, or 0 to 10 V. An isolated analog output is available by adding the "-AI" suffix to the model number.

Relay and Control Features

  • Relays: Two mechanical relays rated for 5 AMPS resistive load, configurable as latched or unlatched via software. Maximum voltage is 250 V AC or 28 V DC.
  • Note on Inductive Loads: For inductive loads not exceeding maximum specifications, a proper TVS protection diode must be used externally across Wiper and NC/NO contacts.

Connections and Approvals

  • Sensor Connections: pH/ORP-BNC connector for the electrode; terminal strip connection for temperature sensors.
  • Certifications: CE, UKCA, cULus.

Key Product Differences

The series is distinguished by power supply options encoded in the model number. The base PHCN-37 operates on 115 VAC; the PHCN-37-230 variant supports 230 VAC; and the PHCN-37-DC10/32 variant accepts 10 to 32 Vdc power.

Additional options include buffer solutions (4.00 pH, 7.00 pH, 10.00 pH) sold separately in 500 mL bottles and isolated analog output configurations requiring the "-AI" suffix modification.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An excellent pH controller This is a really nice pH controller. Very reliable, easy to use, great instructions, and many other cool features. I originally bought a pH controller from Cole-Parmer which really sucked. I decided to try this one and I'm very happy with my purchase! Thanks you Omega.

Is the PHCN-37 PH controller compatible with the PHE-7352-15 sensor?

Asked by: Anonymous
Thank you for your inquiry about the pH controller. Yes, the PHE-7352-15 pH probe is compatible with the PHCN-37 controller since it has a universal BNC connector.

Hi, My Name is Dee, our PH Controller is reading .8 lower than it should be. Do you have a document that shows how to re-calibrate our PH Controller Item# PHCN-37? Thank You Dee

Have an PHCN-37 PH Controller that is displaying -LMT. The pH Probe and Cable has been replaced, but still reading -LMT. The unit had been reading the pH properly since it was first installed a couple months ago. The unit is less than a year old.

Thank you for your inquiry. Let’s attempt a technique that will determine the functionality of the PHCN-37 controller. If you can obtain a metal paper clip or wire and please remove the pH probe in back of the controller where it is connected via the BNC connector. With power ON to the PHCN-37 controller, place one end of the paper clip directly centered in the BNC connector of the controller and the other end, place it on the outer shell, to complete circuit. Then, see if the display on the controller reads close to ‘7.00,’ '6.99,’ or ‘6.98,’ or if it is grossly off, such as ‘4.00’ or ‘5.00,’ then it may need to be repaired. If not, then problem may be with the pH probe. Please forward your response to flow@omega.com to follow up.

Why does my screen keep reading -lmt I know it stands for the limit it acceptable but when I take it out of the water and put it in buffer it still reads that

Asked by: Micky
Thank you for your inquiry. It may be a symptom where the pH probe may need to be replaced.
