Supported Applications
The Omega OM-CP-BRIDGE101A is a battery-powered, stand-alone data logger designed to measure and record voltage signals from strain gages, load cells, and other low-level DC sources. The series supports monitoring of stress, torque, strain, pressure, and data acquisition from various sensors and transducers.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The OM-CP-BRIDGE101A operates in ambient temperatures ranging from -40 to 80°C (-40 to 176°F) with a humidity rating of 0 to 90% RH non-condensing. The device features an IP65 enclosure rating and is constructed from ABS plastic, weighing 24 g (0.8 oz). Data logging rates are configurable from 4 Hz down to one reading every 24 hours.
Performance specifications vary by input range:
- ±30 mV Range: Resolution of 1 μV; Calibrated Accuracy ±0.01% FSR; ±3 microvolts
- ±150 mV Range: Measurement Range ±160 mV; Resolution 5 μV; Calibrated Accuracy ±0.01% FSR; ±16 microvolts
- ±1000 mV Range: Measurement Range ±1200 mV; Resolution 50 μV; Calibrated Accuracy ±0.01% FSR; ±120 microvolts
All ranges utilize a reference voltage of 2.5V and an input range of 0 to 2.5V. Time accuracy is specified as ±1 minute/month at 20°C (68°F) for stand-alone data logging.
Power & Storage
The unit is powered by a user-replaceable 3.6V lithium battery included with the device. Typical battery life is 10 months at a 1-minute rate with a 350Ωohm load, or 2 years at a 1-minute rate with a 1000 ohm load. The logger stores up to 1,000,000 readings in non-volatile solid-state memory and supports software-configurable memory wrap of 333,000 readings in multiple start/stop mode.
Configuration Options
The series offers configurable input ranges (±30 mV, ±150 mV, or ±1000 mV) and optional NIST calibration certificates. Start modes include immediate start, delay start up to 24 months, and multiple pushbutton start/stop functionality.
Enclosure & Environmental Options
An optional weatherproof enclosure is available for harsher environments:
- OM-CP-WATERBOX101A: Weatherproof NEMA 4 (IP65) enclosure constructed from anodized aluminum with a polycarbonate cover. Dimensions are 62 H x 93 W x 25 mm D (2.45 x 3.66 x 0.93"); weight is 140 g (5 oz). Operating temperature for this enclosure configuration is -20 to 80°C (-4 to 176°F).
- OM-CP-WATERBOX101A-KIT: Maintenance kit for the OM-CP-WATERBOX101A.
Data Retrieval & Software
Data retrieval is performed via a USB connection to a PC (interface cable required) at 115,200 baud. The series requires Windows software for operation:
- OM-CP-IFC200: Includes Windows software and a 1.8 m (6') USB interface cable.
Key Product Differences
The series is distinguished by input range selection and certification options:
- OM-CP-BRIDGE101A-30MV / -CERT: Bridge/strain gage data logger with ±30 mV range; the CERT variant includes a NIST calibration certificate.
- OM-CP-BRIDGE101A-150MV / -CERT: Bridge/strain gage data logger with ±150 mV range; the CERT variant includes a NIST calibration certificate.
- OM-CP-BRIDGE101A-1000MV / -CERT: Bridge/strain gage data logger with ±1000 mV range; the CERT variant includes a NIST calibration certificate.
Status indicators include Green and Red LEDs to denote logging rates, delay start mode, low battery/full memory conditions, or alarm states. A replacement 3.6V lithium battery (OM-CP-BAT105) is available as an accessory.

Does this data logger use it's own voltage to operate the strain gauges? If not is a separate system required to power the gauges, and if so what would you recommend? Thanks in advance
Hello Nick
The Bridge101a provides a reference voltage of 2.5V for strain gauges.

this data logger still needs a bridge to attach to the strain gauge?
Hello George
It is recommended to have a full bridge setup (350 or 1000 ohm) connected to the logger.

I'm looking to measure muscle spasticity in mice. Might you recommend a strain guage?
Thank you for your inquiry
The Omega strain gauges are not rec-amended for animal or human use.
We wouldn't have any data for this application
Hope this was helpful.

Does the data logger need to be plugged into a computer with the USB cable for the first time using it to turn it on, rather than using the start/stop button? I tried holding the button for 5+ seconds and the green LED light does not turn on.
Hello, thank you for your question. Yes, you would need to connect to the computer for initial setup before logging for the first time. There are different ways you can start the logger including "immediate" or "delay" start. If you want to use the button to start the logger then you would select "manual" start during setup.
