Supported Applications

The Omega RTDM12 series consists of compact, single-element RTD plug sensors designed for pressure vessel applications and pressurized containers. These rugged probes are engineered for industrial environments requiring reliable temperature sensing with an NPT mounting fitting.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The RTDM12 series operates within a process temperature range of -50 to 120°C (-58 to 248°F). The sensors utilize a PT100Ω sensing element at 0°C conforming to IEC 751 class A accuracy. Performance characteristics include an insulation resistance of 100 MΩ with 100 Vdc and a response time of less than 5 seconds.

Constructed for durability, the series features a pressure rating of 40 bar (580 psi). The molded Nylon connector body provides IP67 protection up to a maximum temperature of 90°C. Each probe is permanently marked with its exact ohmical calibration test value at 0°C, manufacturing date, and traceability code.

Configuration Options

The series offers configurable dimensions and connection types to accommodate specific installation requirements:

  • Sensing Element: PT100Ω @ 0°C (IEC 751 class A) or PT1000 options.
  • Probe Dimensions: 3 mm (0.12") diameter with insertion lengths of 13 mm (0.51") or 24 mm (0.94").
  • Process Connections: Available in 1/8 NPT or G1/8 threads.
  • Housing & Materials: AISI 316SS case and sheath with wetted parts made of 316 stainless steel. The connector features a molded Nylon body with an M12X1 metal thread (to DIN-VDE 0627).
  • Cable Accessories: Options include the M12CFM-P24STPC-SFSR-FL-3 (3 m PVC insulated, flying leads) and M12CFM-T24SSPC-SFSR-FL-20 (20 m FEP insulated, silver plated copper).

Key Product Differences

Variants within the RTDM12 series are distinguished by thread type, insertion length, and sensor element resistance. Models with 1/8 NPT threads include part numbers such as RTDM12-1/8NPT-3MM-13MM-A. Metric variants utilize G1/8 threading, exemplified by models like RTDM12-G1/8-3MM-13MM-A.

The series also supports PT1000 configurations in specific model numbers (e.g., suffixes indicating the element type), alongside standard Class A PT100 sensors. All variants maintain a one-piece construction for direct immersion.

What is the maximum recommended cable length for these RTDs?

Asked by: John42
Thank you for your inquiry John. You can use the 3 m long M12CFM-P24STPC-SFSR-FL-3 cable or the 20 m long M12CFM-T24SSPC-SFSR-FL-20 cable with this probe without any issues. Anything longer than these cables, the wire gauge and the wire length would introduce error into the measurement.

Can the sensor and the M12 connector be submerged in water ?

Asked by: ANDy07
Thank you for your inquiry. M12 connectors comply with protection class IP67. This allows for protection from water immersion at a depth of 1 meter maximum for no more than 30 minutes.
