Supported Applications

The Omega FCH-FGC2 Series consists of compact fan heaters designed for enclosure heating applications. These units utilize forced convection with Positive Temperature Coefficient (PTC) core elements encased in an aluminum heat sink and integrated fans to maximize heat dissipation within a small footprint.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series operates across an ambient temperature range of -40 to 50 °C (-40 to 122 °F). Nominal power output is rated at 300/600W or 450/800W depending on the model, measured at 10°C (50°F). The units are designed for a nominal input voltage of 115/230 Vac. Maximum body temperature limits vary by power level: models rated at 300/600W reach a maximum of 55 °C, while those rated at 450/800W reach up to 80 °C.

Electrical characteristics include an Ingress Protection rating of IP20 and Electrical Protection Class I. Fan volumetric flow ranges from 31 to 35 m³/hour. The fan life time (L10) is specified at 43,500 hours when operating at 40°C.

Configuration Options

The FCH-FGC2 series offers configurable power and voltage options to match specific enclosure requirements. All models feature screw terminals for easy wiring and include finger guards at the inlet and outlet.

  • Power Levels: Available in 300/600W or 450/800W configurations (at 10°C).
  • Voltage Options: Configurable for 115 Vac or 230 Vac operation.
  • Mechanical Features: Includes DIN clip mounting and an aluminum heat sink construction with integrated fan airflow.

In-rush current specifications vary by voltage: typical maximum in-rush is 14 to 15 A RMS at 115 Vac, and 10 to 11 A RMS at 230 Vac. Recommended time-delay fuses are 5 Amps for the lower power models and 6 Amps for the higher power models.

Key Product Differences

The series is distinguished by four specific model numbers that combine power output, voltage rating, and mounting hardware:

  • FCH-FGC20002R: 300/600W, 115V, with DIN clip.
  • FCH-FGC20012R: 450/800W, 115V, with DIN clip.
  • FCH-FGC20022R: 300/600W, 230V, with DIN clip.
  • FCH-FGC20032R: 450/800W, 230V, with DIN clip.

All variants share identical physical dimensions of 82 x 110 mm (3.23 x 4.33 in) cross section and a length of 150 mm (5.91 in), weighing 785 g (27 oz). The series carries CE, UL, cUL, and RoHS approvals.

Hi Omega rep, Have a Digi-Sense Advanced Temperature Controller, 115V model (GZ-89000-10) with a heater output plug rated at 15amp max. Will Item# FCH-FGC20002R work with this controller to heat a small (24 X 15 inch) custom-made Styrofoam enclosure?

is it have the temperature control settings ? like can we set/maintain any specific temperature through PID kind of thing?

Asked by: Pulaparthy
Thank you for connecting with Omega. The compact fan heater does not have a built-in control or thermostat. A separate controller or thermostat is needed to control or limit the temperature.
