Supported Applications

The Omega KSEF Series consists of rugged, preformed circular finned strip units designed for heating moving air or gas in round ductwork. These coiled finned elements provide excellent heat transfer capabilities within HVAC and industrial ventilation systems.

Operating Conditions & Performance

KSEF heaters are rated for 1950 to 5000 Watts at 120 or 240 Vac. Maximum operating temperatures depend on the sheath material and airflow conditions:

• Free Air (Iron Sheath): 107°C (225°F)
• Moving Air at 16 fps (Iron Sheath): 238°C (460°F)
• Free Air (Chrome Steel Sheath): 157°C (315°F)
• Moving Air at 16 fps (Chrome Steel Sheath): 296°C (565°F)

The series carries CSA and UL approvals. Power connections should utilize alloy wire or bus bar.

Voltage Selection Rules

• Specify voltage by inserting "120" for 120 Vac or "240" for 240 Vac in the model number.
• Model numbers containing /120 or /240 are only available at that specific voltage.

Dimensions and Watt Density

The series offers varying physical dimensions (A x B) corresponding to wattage ratings, with overall lengths ranging from 22.5 cm (8⅜ in) to 54.9 cm (21⅝ in). Surface loading ranges from 23 W/in² for the highest wattage units up to 27 W/in².

Configuration Options

The KSEF series is configurable across multiple parameters including sheath material, power rating, and voltage. The following options are available:

• Sheath Materials: Iron or Monel (Chrome Steel).
• Power Ratings: 1950 W, 2500 W, 3100 W, 3700 W, 4000 W, 4500 W, and 5000 W.
• Voltages: 120 Vac or 240 Vac (voltage availability varies by wattage).

Model Number Guide

The standard ordering format is KSEF--. Examples include KSEF-24/120, KSEF-30/240, and KSEF-360M/240. The "M" suffix in the model number indicates a Monel sheath.

Options and Accessories

• Mounting: Brackets to be fabricated by user.
• Control: Thermostatic control (AR thermostat).
• Safety: Overheat protection (Type ARC).

Key Product Differences

Variants within the KSEF series are distinguished primarily by sheath material (Iron vs. Monel) and power rating, which dictate physical dimensions and maximum operating temperatures. Iron sheath models generally have lower temperature limits compared to Chrome Steel/monel variants under identical airflow conditions.

Sheath Material Distinctions

• Iron Sheath: Standard configuration for specific wattage ranges (e.g., KSEF-24, KSEF-30).
• Monel/Chrome Steel Sheath: Identified by the "M" suffix in model numbers (e.g., KSEF-240M), offering higher temperature tolerance.

Voltage Availability by Wattage

Certain high-wattage models are available only at 240 Vac. For example, the 5000 W unit (KSEF-640M) is listed as KSEF-640M/240.
