Supported Applications
The Dwyer Series CLS2 is a capacitive level switch designed to sense material levels in liquids, powders, and bulk materials compatible with its wetted materials. The series utilizes impulse RF admittance measurement combined with an active guard mechanism to provide stability while remaining insensitive to material buildup on the probe. Documented applications include pulp and paper processing, chemical processing, food and beverage, plastics, and mining.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The Series CLS2 operates within specific environmental limits defined by its power supply configuration. The ambient temperature range is -40 to 185°F (-40 to 85°C); when using a power supply under 24 VAC/DC, the lower limit adjusts to -4 to 185°F (-20 to 85°C). Process temperatures are rated from -40 to 250°F (-40 to 121°C). The unit features an enclosure rating of Weatherproof, NEMA 4X. Performance specifications include a response time of 0.2 s and a pressure limit of 365 psi (25 bar).
Electrical ratings for the DPDT switch are 8 A @ 12/240 VAC resistive or 30 VDC resistive, with motor loads rated at 1/2 hp @ 120 VAC and 1/4 hp @ 240 VAC inductive. Power requirements span 12-240 VAC/DC with a maximum power consumption of 2.8 watts.

- Cable (Code C): 316 SS cable with weight.
- Threaded Rod (Option T): 316 SS rod, .375" diameter, with a 3/8-16 threaded tip; field extensions up to 47" (1.2 m) can be attached.*
- Insertion Length: Configurable in inches (e.g., code Ø19 indicates 19"). Minimum length is 6", featuring a 3/4" sensing tip.
Process Connections & Materials
- NPT Male: Available in 3/4", 1", and 1-1/2" sizes (Codes 1, 2, 3).
- BSPT: Available in 3/4", 1", and 1-1/2" sizes (Codes 4, 5, 6).
- Sanitary Clamp: Options for 1-1/2" (Code 7) or 2" (Code 8).
- Wetted Materials: Constructed of 316 SS and polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF). A "Food grade wetted materials" option is available.
