Supported Applications

The Omega GT-CertTherm series comprises Certified Liquid-In-Glass Thermometers and Verification Thermometers, featuring PFA safety coating. These instruments are designed for use in chemical laboratories, universities, scientific institutions, food and beverage processing, petrochemical laboratories, the pharmaceutical industry, medical industry, manufacturers, dairies, breweries, and distilleries.

Specific verification thermometer models within the series address specialized temperature zones:

  • Freezer: GT-20400C (-25/-5°C)
  • Refrigerator: GT-20401C (-2/10°C) and GT-20700C (-5/15°C)
  • Incubator: GT-20402C (15/30°C), GT-20403C (25/45°C), and GT-20720C (15/50°C)
  • Oven: GT-20404C (95/115°C)
  • Ultra-low freezer: GT-20630C (-90/25°C)
  • Blood bank: GT-20717C (-5/20°C)

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series covers measurement ranges from 0 to 300°F and -90 to 225°C, depending on the specific model. Accuracy varies by range and temperature zone; for example, GT-34050 offers an accuracy of 2°C (with a tolerance of 3°C below -50°C), while high-precision verification models such as GT-20400C achieve 0.2°C accuracy.

Calibration reports provide corrections to one-tenth of the smallest division and include individual serial numbers for traceability. The thermometers are tested and certified in a triple accredited/registered ISO/IEC 17025:2005, A2LA accredited laboratory against equipment whose calibration is traceable to NIST and DAkkS. Compliance standards cited include ANSI/SAMA Z236.1-1983, ASTM, ILAC, and equivalent standards.

Configuration Options

The GT-CertTherm series offers configurable options across immersion type, glass backing color, scale divisions, length, and certification points:

  • Immersion Type: Available as Partial Immersion (e.g., 76 mm / 3" immersion depth) or Total Immersion.
  • Glass Backing: Models feature either Yellow Back or White Back glass types for enhanced readability in different lighting conditions.
  • Scale Divisions: Options include 0.1, 0.2, 0.5, 1, and 2 divisions depending on the model range.
  • Lengths: Overall lengths vary from 125 mm (4.9") for compact verification thermometers to 610 mm (24") for extended-range models.
  • Certification Points: Specific calibration points are defined per model, such as "0, 37, 56°C" or multi-point sets like "-78, -20, 0, 4, 37°C."
  • Traceability Options: Select models (e.g., GT-30507C) are traceable to DAkkS; others list NIST and ASTM compliance without explicit DAkkS designation in the table.

Packaging includes individual recyclable heavy-duty storage boxes for partial immersion thermometers, while verification thermometers are individually packaged.

Key Product Differences

The series distinguishes between Certified Partial Immersion Thermometers and Certified Total Immersion Thermometers based on the required measurement depth. Verification thermometer sub-families (High Precision vs. Precision) differ in accuracy class, range span, and physical dimensions:

  • High Precision: Models like GT-20400C through GT-20404C offer 0.1 division scales with accuracies of 0.2°C to 0.4°C for narrow ranges.
  • Precision: Models such as GT-20630C and GT-20700C provide broader ranges (e.g., -90/25°C) with accuracies ranging from 0.5°C to variable tolerances at extreme temperatures.
  • Yellow Back vs. White Back: Yellow back models generally correspond to higher accuracy classes or specific traceability requirements, while white back models cover a wider variety of ranges and immersion types.
