- Operating Temperature, Min -60 °C
- Series ID FBGS
Supported Applications
The Omega FBGS Series consists of non-fraying, braided fiberglass sleeving designed for high temperature and abrasive applications. This flexible primary or secondary insulation is utilized in consumer, commercial, and industrial settings where flexibility, abrasion resistance, or electrical insulation is required.
Key application characteristics include:
- Thermal Protection: Used particularly when temperature extremes prohibit the use of other materials.
- Mechanical Protection: Provides shielding against abrasive environments.
- Chemical Resistance: Offers good resistance to most alkalis, fair resistance to acids, and is unaffected by bleaches and solvents.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The FBGS Series operates within a continuous duty temperature range of -60 °C to 316 °C (-76 °F to 601 °F). For short periods, the sleeving can withstand temperatures up to 616 °C (1141 °F).
Constructed from closely braided, continuous filament fiberglass that has been heat-cleaned to remove impurities in the yarn, the material features acrylic resin binders applied for color coding. These binders further retard fraying and hold the sleeving round for cutting.
Material Properties
- Sheath Material: Fiberglass (continuous filament).
- Flame Resistance: Will not burn.
- Chemical Compatibility: Good resistance to most alkalis; fair resistance to acids; unaffected by bleaches and solvents.
Configuration Options
The series is configurable across multiple dimensions including color, gage (size), and spool length. The model number follows the format FBGS-(*)-(**)-<length>, where specific codes define the physical attributes.
Color Options
The following colors are available for identification or coding purposes:- B: Blue
- BK: Black
- R: Red
- N: Natural
- Y: Yellow
- P: Purple
- BR: Brown
- GR: Green
Gage Selections
The series supports the following gages:- 20
- 24
- 26
- 28
- 30
Note: Not all gage and color combinations may be available; verify specific options via DwyerOmega.com or customer service.
Spool Lengths
The sleeving is supplied on spools with the following lengths:- -25: 7.6 m (25 ft)
- -50: 15.2 m (50 ft)
- -100: 30.5 m (100 ft)
- -200: 61 m (200 ft)
- -500: 152.4 m (500 ft)
Key Product Differences
Variations within the FBGS Series are defined strictly by the combination of color code, gage size, and spool length in the model number. For example, FBGS-R-20-25 denotes a Red sleeving with Gage 20 on a 7.6 m (25 ft) spool.
The series does not include variations for different sheath materials or chemical formulations beyond the standard heat-cleaned fiberglass construction described above. All variants share the same operating temperature limits and flame resistance properties.
