Supported Applications

The FLT93B FlexSwitch is a preconfigured version of FCI's Model FLT93S, designed for simplified ordering and quick shipment. It is a premium flow, level/interface, and temperature monitor that uses thermal dispersion sensing with no moving parts, so it responds to changes in flow, level, or temperature to drive an alarm or control signal.

The switch is suited to water-based liquids, hydrocarbon-based liquids, and air/gas applications, and its all-welded 316L stainless steel wetted surfaces give broad media compatibility for process, safety-interlock, and level/interface detection duties.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The FLT93B reports flow as an analog signal and detects level/interface and temperature with the following performance:

Flow accuracy: ±0.5 % reading.
Level/interface accuracy: ±6.4 mm, with repeatability of ±3.2 mm.
Temperature accuracy: ±1°C, with repeatability of ±0.6°C.
Response time: as low as 3 seconds.

Power is supplied from a universal AC/DC input, with terminals and jumpers on the circuit board selecting AC 108-132V, AC 207-253V, AC 18-28V, or DC 21-30V. Electrical connection is through a 1" female NPT conduit port, and the process connection is 3/4" male NPT. The wetted element is all-welded 316L stainless steel, and the housing is polyester powder coated aluminum. Insertion U-lengths are offered at 30 mm, 51 mm, and 102 mm.

Configuration Options

Because the FLT93B is a preconfigured build, the models differ mainly by insertion depth while sharing the same sensing platform, materials, and outputs.

Insertion U-length: the three catalogued builds correspond to the 1.2" [30 mm], 2" [51 mm], and 4" [102 mm] insertion depths.
Heater power: the flow range depends on the selected heater; a 0.75 watt heater and a 3.0 watt heater give different measurable flow spans for liquids and gases.
Agency approval and input power are also selectable within the FLT93B ordering string.
