Supported Applications

The ACI PXP series is an analog to pneumatic output transducer that converts an analog electrical input signal into a proportional pneumatic output. The device automatically modulates control valves to regulate branch line pressure based on the selected set point determined by the input signal. Documented applications include Three-Way Mixing Valve Control, Pilot Positioner Control, Pneumatic Valve & Damper Actuator Control, Fan Vane Control, DDC Control, and Above Ceiling Applications for mixing and VAV boxes.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The PXP series operates with an air supply pressure range of 18 psig (124.106 kPa) minimum to 25 psig (172.369 kPa) maximum. The standard output pressure range is field-calibratable up to a maximum of 0 to 15 psig (0-103.421 kPa), with EPC products offering a 0 to 20 psig modulating output. Output accuracy is specified as 1% full scale @ room temperature and 2% full scale across the operating temperature range.

Electrical power requirements are 24 VAC (+/-10%), 50 or 60 Hz, or 24 VDC (+10%/-5%). The unit accepts selectable input signal ranges of 0-5 VDC @ 10,000 Ω, 0-10 VDC @ 10,000 Ω, 0-15 VDC @ 10,000 Ω, or 0-20 mA @ 250Ω. A feedback signal output of 0-5 VDC proportional to the branch line pressure is provided.

Operating conditions require an ambient temperature range of 35 to 120°F (1.7 to 48.9°C) and humidity between 10 to 95% non-condensing. Storage temperatures are rated from -20 to 150°F (-28.9 to 65.5°C). The device requires a minimum branch line capacity of 2 in³ (33.78 cm³) to operate without oscillation.

Configuration Options

The series offers multiple configurations distinguished by valve architecture, bleed orifice sizing, and fail-safe behavior:

  • PXP0.3 / PXP0.3G: Single valve version with no air consumption; does not bleed or exhaust air.
  • PXP1.3 / PXP5.3 / PXP7.3 (and G variants): Constant bleed controllers where branch exhaust response time is determined by the specific bleed orifice size and pressure differentials. Orifice sizes include 0.010" Silver, 0.005" Copper, and 0.007" Brass.
  • PXP2.3 / PXP2.3G: Two-valve design that does not use air at set point; maintains branch pressure if power fails (assuming no leaks).
  • PXP2.3FS / PXP2.3GFS: Fail-safe models equipped with a Normally Open (N.O.) branch exhaust valve to exhaust branch line pressure on power failure.
  • PXP2.3LG: High-flow model furnished with an external 5 micron in-line filter (PN021) instead of the standard integral-in-barb filter.

All models feature a machined aluminum manifold with removable brass barbed fittings for Main and Branch connections, accepting 1/4" O.D. nominal (1/8" I.D.) polyethylene tubing. A plugged 1/8-27-FNPT gauge port is available on all units; an optional pressure gauge (0-30 psig / 0-200 kPa) can be installed at additional cost.

Key Product Differences

Variants within the PXP series differ primarily in their pneumatic control logic and physical dimensions. Models with a "G" suffix include an integrated pressure gauge, increasing overall depth from 0.70" (17.78mm) to approximately 2.95" (74.90mm). The housing material is Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) for the Snaptrack mounting system with a UL94 V-0 flammability rating.

Power consumption varies by model type, ranging from 160 mA maximum to 200 mA on fail-safe models. Air flow capacity differs between standard and high-flow versions; supply valves are rated at 750 SCIM (37.69 Liters) for most models, while the PXP2LG supports up to 1400 SCIM (22.94 Liters). Accessories include a DIN Rail Adapter Kit, Transient Voltage Suppressors, and replacement orifice kits.
