Supported Applications
The ACI Series AFP (Analog to Floating Point) interface is designed for electric actuator control. It converts an analog voltage or current signal into two isolated relay contact outputs—one for increase and one for decrease—to drive floating point actuators.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The unit operates on a 24 VAC or 24 VDC (+/- 10%), 50/60 Hz power supply. It accepts nine analog input signal ranges: 0-5 VDC, 0-10 VDC, 0-15 VDC, and 0-20 mA as standard inputs; with an offset jumper configured, it supports 1-5 VDC, 2-10 VDC, 3-15 VDC, and 4-20 mA. Input impedance is nominal at 10,000Ω for voltage signals and 250Ω for current signals.
Relay outputs are Dry Contact, Form C, rated for a maximum of 2A @ 24 VDC. The relay electrical life is specified as 100,000 operations minimum, with a mechanical life of 1,000,000 operations. Upon power-up, the decrease relay drives 100% of the chosen timing range to ensure the output reaches its minimum position (unless configured otherwise by version). On loss of power, output relays open and no signal is generated; the actuator remains at the last commanded position unless it has 'spring return'.
Operating conditions are 35 to 120°F (1.7 to 48.9°C) ambient temperature and 10 to 95% non-condensing humidity. Storage temperature range is -20 to 150°F (-28.9 to 65.5°C). The enclosure material is Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) with a UL94 V-0 flammability rating.
Rate of Change Configuration
The AFP output rate of change is DIP switch selectable across sixteen ranges organized into eight versions:
- Version #1 (AFP_0101.hex): 30 sec., 60 sec., or 90 sec.
- Version #2 (AFP_0201.hex): 120 sec., 150 sec., or 180 sec. Drives actuator down 200% of range on power reapplication; at input signals between 2-5% or below and 95-98% or higher, the up or down contact drives an additional 100% of the chosen timing range.
- Version #3 (AFP_0301.hex): 14 sec., 16.5 sec., or 19 sec.
- Version #4 (AFP_0401.hex): 30, 60, or 90 sec. Relay stays on at minimum and maximum voltage.
- Version #5 (AFP_0501.hex): 90, 135, or 180 sec. Relay stays on with 5% of maximum or minimum input voltage; no overshoot occurs at max or min input voltage.
- Version #6 (AFP_0601.hex): 18, 75, or 360 sec.
- Version #7 (AFP_0701.hex): 30, 60, or 90 sec. Drives actuator up 105% of range on power reapplication.
- Version #8 (AFP_0801.hex): 46, 240, or 600 sec.
Jumper Settings
The unit includes configurable jumpers for input signal type and offset:
- J3 (Input Signal Type): Selects between 10V, 15V, or 20mA.
- J6 (Offset Jumper): Moving the jumper to ON adds an offset to the input signal based on the selected range (e.g., converting 0-5 VDC to 1-5 VDC). The jumper must remain in the CD setting when not adding offset.
- J4, J5 (Manual Relay Control): Configurable for Off, Auto, or Manual digital outputs.
Configuration Options
The Series AFP is available in eight distinct versions corresponding to specific firmware and rate-of-change profiles. The unit features 90° pluggable screw terminal blocks compatible with wire sizes from 16 AWG (1.31 mm²) to 26 AWG (0.129 mm²). Terminal block torque rating is 0.5 Nm minimum; 0.6 Nm maximum.
Physical dimensions are (L) 4.00" x (W) 3.25" x (H) 1.15" (101.6 x 82.55 x 29.21 mm). The unit weighs 0.325 lbs. (0.147 Kg).
