Supported Applications

The Gasenz Ambient Oxygen Monitor by Ntron is designed for personnel protection in applications where there is a risk of oxygen deficiency or enrichment, as well as laboratory applications. The device monitors ambient oxygen concentration levels and integrates into control systems via multiple outputs.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series measures oxygen concentrations from 0...25 % with an output resolution of 0.01 %. Response time (T90) is less than 15 seconds within the selected range at 25 °C (77 °F). The monitor operates across a pressure range of 900...1100 mBarabs and supports humidity levels from 0...95 %rh non-condensing with normal use.

Operating temperature ranges vary by sensor technology:

  • Zirconia (ZR): -25 °C...+60 °C (-13 °F...+140 °F)
  • Electrochemical (EC): 0 °C...+45 °C (+32 °F...+113 °F)

The device meets standards and certifications including ETL: UL-61010-1, EMC: EN 50270, CE, and is an ETL Recognized Component (Intertek).

Configuration Options

The Gasenz series offers configurable sensor options to balance longevity against cost. The Zirconia sensor provides a life expectancy of up to 5 years with unlimited shelf life, while the Electrochemical sensor has an approximate life of 18 months and a shelf life of up to 3 months.

Outputs and Indicators

  • Analog Output: 4...20 mA current source (10-bit resolution)
  • Digital Communications: RS232
  • Relay Options: Single pole change over, rated at 6 Amps 250 v AC; one relay is available for user connection while two are assigned to control the light tower indicator.
  • Status Indicators: Two-Lamp Light Tower with Sounder (Red Lamp LED-Alarm + Sounder 80db@0.3Mtr, Green Lamp LED-Normal/Ready)

Power and Housing

  • Power Supply Options: 85...264VAC or Option of 24 VDC Only (Data sheet specifies 85...230 V AC (50...60 Hz) or 24 V DC)
  • Housing Material: ABS
  • Mounting: Wall / vertical surface
  • Dimensions: Width 110 mm, Height 109 mm, Depth 110 mm (Zirconia sensor length 60 mm; Electrochemical sensor length 40 mm)

Key Product Differences

The primary distinction within the series is the choice of sensing technology. The Zirconia option offers extended life and unlimited shelf storage, whereas the Electrochemical option provides a lower-cost alternative with shorter service intervals (3...6 months calibration vs 12 months for Zirconia). Maximum power consumption differs by sensor type: 7.2 W for Zirconia configurations and 3.6 W for Electrochemical configurations.

Replacement sensors are available, such as Part No. 01-335 for %Vol oxygen 0-25% applications. The unit is supplied factory configured and calibrated; user intervention is limited to periodic sensor replacement and calibration adjustments via the onboard LCD display and keypad.
