Supported Applications
The Omega Alta Long Range Wireless IIoT Ethernet Gateways (ALTA Ethernet Gateway 4) enable Monnit wireless sensors to communicate with the iMonnit® Online Wireless Sensor Monitoring and Notification System without a PC. Designed for commercial locations with active internet access, these gateways facilitate fast time-to-market IoT solutions across various vertical application segments by providing remote wireless sensor management.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series operates within an ambient temperature range of -20 to +70°C (-4 to 158°F) and supports storage temperatures from -40 to +85°C (-40 to 185°F). Wireless performance includes a transmit power of 25 mW (900 MHz), 17 mW (868 MHz), or 6.3 mW (433 MHz) depending on the frequency variant, with an antenna gain of 2.5 dBi for 433 MHz products and 3.0 dBi for 868 MHz and 400 MHz products. The gateway supports a wireless range of 1,200+ ft. non-line-of-sight, though actual range may vary depending on the environment.
Security is provided via Encrypt-RF® (256-bit key exchange and AES-128 CTR). Device memory stores up to 50,000 sensor messages; this capacity varies based on sensor type. Sensor messages are stored during internet outages and transferred when the connection is restored.
Environmental Restrictions
The series must not be used in corrosive gas, volatile or flammable gas, dusty conditions, low/high pressure environments, wet/humid locations, places with salt water/oils/chemicals, or areas subject to excessively strong vibrations. Operation is restricted to the specified temperature range; higher temperatures may cause deterioration.
Configuration Options
The series supports two primary model configurations: Ethernet (MNG2-x-EGW-CCE) and Ethernet + POE (MNG2-x-EGW-CCE-POE), where 'x' is a frequency placeholder for global deployments. The enclosure material is ABS, with overall dimensions of 5.004 x 3.8 x 1.51 in. and a weight of 7 ounces.
Connectivity & Protocols
- Ethernet Hardware: 10/100 Ethernet Controller compliant with IEEE Standard 802.3-2002, supporting Full- and Half-Duplex operation.
- Cross-Over Correction: Automatic MDI/MDI-X via RJ45 connector.
- Protocols Supported: DHCP, DNS, NTP, UDP, TCP, SNMP, Modbus TCP.
Power & Wireless Interface
- Input Power (Ethernet): 5.0 VDC @ 1A.
- Ethernet + POE Variant: 802.3AF Class 1 Compliant.
- Antenna Connector: RP-SMA.
- Status Indicators: LEDs for Connectivity, Server, and Network Status.
Certifications & Approvals
- 900 MHz Product: FCC ID: ZTL-G2SC1; IC: 9794A-G2SC1.
- 868 and 433 MHz Products: Tested to comply with EN 300 220-2 V3.1.1 (2017-02) and EN 60950/62368-1.
Key Product Differences
Variants differ primarily by power delivery method and frequency band. The standard Ethernet model requires a dedicated 5.0 VDC @ 1A input, while the POE variant supports Power over Ethernet (802.3AF Class 1 Compliant). Frequency-specific models determine transmit power levels and antenna gain characteristics: 900 MHz variants deliver 25 mW; 868 MHz variants deliver 17 mW with 3.0 dBi gain; and 433 MHz variants deliver 6.3 mW with 2.5 dBi gain.
