Supported Applications

The Omega Alta Long Range Tamper resistant Wireless Thermostat is designed for remote configuration and energy savings in HVAC systems. It features an integrated motion sensor to auto-detect occupancy, entering an energy-saving state when unoccupied. The device allows setting maximum and minimum temperature ranges for both occupied and non-occupied states, automatically adjusting comfort levels upon personnel arrival and returning to normal settings when they leave.

Documented applications include public buildings such as corporate facilities, schools, and churches. The unit is designed with no physical buttons to prevent unauthorized adjustments.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series operates within a temperature range of -40°C to 85°C (-40°F to 185°F). Measurement capabilities include Temperature and Humidity, with a humidity operating range of 0 – 100% RH. Accuracy is specified as ± 1°C for temperature readings and ± 3% under normal conditions (10% - 90% RH) for relative humidity.

Response time for the RH sensor is 8 sec (tau 63%). The motion sensor detection range extends to 16.4 ft (5 m). Wireless communication operates at frequencies of 900, 920, 868 and 433 MHz with a wireless range of 250 - 300 ft. through walls, ceilings and floors; the document notes that range may vary according to environmental variables.

Electrical specifications include a supply voltage of 12 VAC - 24 VAC (powered via HVAC system). Current consumption varies by mode: 0.7 μA in sleep mode, 2 mA in radio idle/off and measurement modes, 25 mA in radio RX mode, and 35 mA in radio TX mode.

Configuration Options

The Alta-Tstat series supports the following configurable features and technical parameters:

  • Sensor Options: The unit can be configured with a humidity sensor or a thermistor option. If the thermistor option is present, the thermostat only reads temperature and reports a value of 0% humidity.
  • Tamper Resistance: A physical configuration lockout jumper prevents changes to any settings, even through the iMonnit portal. This feature requires removal of the physical jumper to change settings.
  • Status Indicators: Six LED indicators provide visual status for Heating, Cooling, Fan, Power, Occupied, and Radio (RF).
  • Electrical Connections: An 8-pin terminal block supports connections including Common (C), Line (R, Rc), Fan (G), Cool (Y), and Heat (W). The pass-through current rating on Heat, Cool, and Fan connections is Continuous: 1 A RMS with a Surge of 8.5 A Peak.
  • Peak Voltage: Connections support +/− 800 Volts on Heat, Cool, and Fan terminals.

Key Product Differences

The series is available in multiple frequency variants to comply with regional standards. The 900 MHz product carries FCC ID: ZTL-RFSC1 and IC: 9794A-RFSC1 certifications. The 920 MHz product complies with ARIB STD-T108 R210-103733. Products operating at 868 and 433 MHz are tested to comply with CISPR 22:2008-09 / EN 55022:2010 - Class B and ETSI EN 300 220-2 V2.4.1 (2012-05).

Physical dimensions are fixed at 5.5 x 3.355 x 1.25 in. (139.7 x 85.217 x 31.75 mm). The device is designed for ordinary environments with normal room temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure; it should not be used under conditions involving corrosive gas, volatile or flammable gas, dusty conditions, low or high pressure, wet locations, salt water, oils, chemical liquids, organic solvents, or excessively strong vibrations.
