Supported Applications

The Dwyer Model DAFA Air Flow Indicator and Alarm is designed to alert users of low or no air flow conditions in pipes. The device utilizes a thin, field trimmable vane to sense the air flow rate. It is ideal for monitoring radon mitigation systems by detecting a loss of air flow in the pipe and providing a signal if the fan has stopped operating.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The Model DAFA operates within an ambient temperature range of 32 to 122°F (0 to 50°C). It is designed for service with clean air. The unit features a vertical mounting orientation and weighs 4 oz (113.4 g).

• Actuation Point: 15 CFM on decrease in flow for 4" pipe; 10 CFM on decrease in flow for 3" pipe.
• Audible Alarm: At least 85 dB @ 1 foot distance.
• Visual Alarm: Red LED indicates no flow alarm; Yellow LED indicates low battery.

Configuration Options

The series is powered by a 3 V CR2450 lithium battery, which is included and user replaceable. Battery life is rated at 5 years in steady state and 48 hours during alarm state.

Key Product Differences

The Model DAFA is a single-series device with the model number guide format "DAFA-1 - <MODEL>" (example: DAFA-1). The unit is not field serviceable, and attempting to repair it may void the warranty. It has been designed specifically for vertical pipes with flow traveling upwards; other configurations can lead to changes in actuation or deactuation points.
