Supported Applications

The Omega FMG900 Series Adjustable Insertion Electromagnetic Flow Meter is designed for measuring flow in pipes ranging from 3" to 48", with an optional extension up to 72". The series operates by generating a voltage proportional to flow rate within a rapidly reversing magnetic field, featuring no moving parts suitable for dirty water and corrosive chemical conditions.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The FMG900 Series is engineered for a flow velocity range of 0.28 to 20 ft/sec (0.08 - 6.09 m/sec). Calibration accuracy is specified as +/- 1% of full scale, with empty pipe detection handled via software that defaults to zero flow.

Operating limits are defined by the following parameters:

Ambient Temperature: 0° to 160° F (-17° to 72° C)
Process (Fluid) Temperature: 32° to 200° F (0° to 93° C)
Pressure Rating: 200 psi (13.8 bar)
Minimum Conductivity: 20 microSiemens/cm

The series is not designed for underwater operation; the -40 option is recommended if occasional immersion is possible.

Configuration Options

The FMG900 Series offers configurable wetted materials, insertion styles, and output options to accommodate specific process needs. The housing material is cast powder-coated aluminum with an enclosure rating of NEMA 4X (IP66).

Outputs & Power

The sensor provides a square wave pulse output that is opto isolated at 550 Hz @ 20 ft/sec. The standard electrical load is 6 mA max, 30 Vdc for forward flow; reverse flow is an optional configuration.
