Supported Applications
The Dwyer Series AFS Adjustable Flow Switches are piston-type devices designed for in-line installation to detect the flow of liquids and gases. These switches provide adjustable set points for monitoring applications involving oils, water, other liquids, and air or gas streams.
- Liquid media: Water (Polysulfone Piston), Oil (Brass Piston)
- Gas media: Air/Gas at 5 PSIG line pressure
- General service: Compatible gases or liquids as defined by housing and piston material selection
Operating Conditions & Performance
The Series AFS operates within specific temperature, pressure, and flow envelopes dependent on the selected piston material. The series supports a liquid flow adjustable range of 0.5 to 20 GPM (1.9 to 75.7 LPM) for water. For gases at 5 PSIG line pressure, the adjustable range is 1.0 to 75 SCFM (28 to 2124 LPM); at 100 PSIG line pressure, the gas flow range extends from 3 to 160 SCFM.

Maintenance and Installation Notes
The switches require filtration of liquid media containing particulate or debris to ensure proper operation, with a recommended filter rating of 50 microns or better. Mounting orientation is flexible for any position.
Key Product Differences
Variants within the Series AFS are distinguished by their model number suffixes and specific combinations of media compatibility, housing material, and electrical entry type:
- Liquid Models (1xx): Designed for oils, water, or general liquids. Examples include AFS-131 (Oil/Brass), AFS-141 (Water/Polysulfone in Brass Housing), and AFS-151 (Liquids/316 SS).
- Gas Models (2xx): Designed for gases. Examples include AFS-231 (Gases/Brass) and AFS-251 (Gases/316 SS).
- Electrical Entry: Models ending in '1' feature wire leads, while models ending in '2' provide a 1/2" NPT conduit connection.
