Supported Applications
The Dwyer Series BDPA Adjustable Differential Pressure Alarm is designed for overpressure, vacuum, and differential pressure applications. The series supports monitoring of air filters and ventilators using a built-in audible and visual indication system. It is intended for use with air and noncombustible, compatible gases.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The Series BDPA operates within a process ambient temperature range from 32 to 122°F (0 to 50°C). The device features an IP21 enclosure rating. Maximum operating pressure is specified as 40 in w.c. (10 kPa) for all pressure ranges, with repeatability of ±15% FS.
Alarm indication includes a red LED and audible alarm at approximately 90 db at 4" (10 cm). When the system pressure reaches the set point on the knob, the LED flashes once every 30 seconds while the buzzer sounds every 60 seconds. Pressing the snooze button ceases these indications for a three-day period; if the condition persists after this interval, the alarm restarts.
Configuration Options
The series offers six distinct set point ranges to accommodate varying differential pressure requirements:
- BDPA-08-2-N: 0.08 to 1.20 in w.c. (20 to 300 Pa)
- BDPA-04-2-N: 0.12 to 1.60 in w.c. (30 to 400 Pa)
- BDPA-03-2-N: 0.20 to 2.00 in w.c. (50 to 500 Pa)
- BDPA-05-2-N: 0.80 to 4.00 in w.c. (200 to 1000 Pa)
- BDPA-06-2-N: 2.00 to 10.00 in w.c. (500 to 2500 Pa)
- BDPA-07-2-N: 4.00 to 20.00 in w.c. (1000 to 5000 Pa)
The switch type is SPDT with an electrical rating of 1.0 amp at 30 VDC/VAC. Power requirements are met via 16-30 VDC, 18-30 VAC, or battery (1/2 AA LS14250). If line power is supplied, the battery acts as a back-up during power loss; low-battery notification occurs roughly one week before depletion. Electrical connections are provided via screw terminals with an M20x1.5 cable strain relief or optional 1/2" NPT connection.
Process connections accept 5/16" (7.94 mm) outside diameter tubing and 1/4" (6.0 mm) inside diameter tubing. Wetted materials include a silicone diaphragm, with the switch body constructed of PA 6.6 and POM, and the cover made of Polystyrene.
Key Product Differences
The Series BDPA is distinguished from related ADPS and EDPS models by its integrated audible alarm (buzzer) and visual LED indicator. While all three series share similar pressure ranges and silicone diaphragm construction, the BDPA specifically includes battery backup capability for line-powered installations.
Mounting orientation affects performance: switching specifications apply to vertical installation with pressure connections pointing downwards. Horizontal mounting is permitted only if there is no potential for condensate formation; in this position, switching values are approximately 0.08 in w.c. (20 Pa) higher than indicated on the scale.
