Supported Applications
The ACI Carbon Dioxide Duct Series (A/CO2-D) monitors carbon dioxide (CO2) levels in industrial, commercial, school, and office-type environments. The series utilizes single beam non-dispersive infrared technology to measure CO2 concentration as an indicator of overall indoor air quality. Data from the transmitter is used with Building Automation Systems or Demand Control Ventilation strategies for building climate control.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The A/CO2-D series operates within a temperature range of 32 to 122°F (0 to 50°C) and humidity from 0 to 95%, non-condensing. The default measurement range is 0 to 2,000 ppm, with extended ranges up to 10,000 ppm available as a factory set option. Accuracy for the standard range is +/- 40 ppm and +/- 3% of reading (@ 15-35°C; 20-70% RH and 101.3 kPa). For extended ranges above 2,000 ppm, accuracy is specified as +/- 30 ppm and +/- 5% of reading.
Performance characteristics include a response time of ≤ 2 minutes via diffusion sensing and a warm-up time of less than 1 minute (full specs achieved in under 15 minutes). The sensor life is typically greater than 15 years. Accuracy specifications are defined after a minimum of three Automatic Baseline Correction (ABC) periods, where one period equals 8 days.
Configuration Options
The series offers configurable analog outputs and housing options to suit specific installation requirements:
- Output Signals: Output 1 provides 0-5 VDC or 0-10 VDC (default), while Output 2 delivers a 4-20 mA signal with a maximum load of 500 Ohm. The 0-5 VDC option is field selectable via integral dip switches.
- Power Supply: Supports 24 VAC +/-20%, 50/60 Hz (half-wave rectifier) or 16.5-40 VDC maximum.
- Housing & Enclosure: The duct box and pipe are constructed from a PC & ABS blend with a UL94V-0 flammability rating; the cover uses Makrolon® 6555 plastic (UL94V-0). The enclosure is rated IP65.
- Mounting: Installation requires drilling a 1" (25 mm) diameter hole for the sampling probe and two holes with 0.16" (4 mm) diameter for screws into the air duct. A variant includes a 1/2" conduit adapter.
