Supported Applications

The Omega ACC797 series consists of premium low-profile accelerometers designed for industrial vibration measurements. The hermetically sealed construction and rugged design make the series suitable for harsh environments.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The ACC797 accelerometer operates within a temperature range of -50 to 120°C (-58 to 248°F). The device features an acceleration measurement range of 50 g peak with a sensitivity of 100 mV/g (±5% at 25°C / 77°F). Dynamic performance includes amplitude non-linearity of 1% and transverse sensitivity maximums of 5% of axial. Frequency response specifications are listed as ±5% from 3 to 5000 Hz, ±10% from 2 to 7000 Hz, and ±3 dB from 1 to 12,000 Hz, with a resonance frequency of 26 kHz.

Electrical requirements include an excitation voltage source of 18 to 30 Vdc. The device utilizes a current regulating diode requiring 2 to 10 mA and presents a maximum output impedance of 100 Ω. Electrical noise specifications are documented as 600 μg broadband (2.5 Hz to 25 kHz) and spectral values of 8 μg/√Hz at 10 Hz, 5 μg/√Hz at 100 Hz, and 5 μg/√Hz at 1000 Hz.

Environmental limits include a vibration limit of 500 g peak and a shock rating of 5000 g peak. The unit features an isolated case with internal shielding for grounding.

Configuration Options

The ACC797 series is offered as a premium accelerometer with a side exit connector housed in 316L SS (stainless steel). Physical dimensions are 54.61 mm (2.15 in) length, 26.67 mm (1.05 in) diameter, and 43.18 mm (1.70 in) height, with a weight of 135 g (4.8 oz). The unit includes a captive mounting screw and calibration data.

Electrical connection is provided via an Amphenol 97-3106A-10SL-4S type connector or MIL-C-5015 style 2-pin connector, with process connections utilizing a 1/4-28 mounting thread. The series supports ESD protection and reverse wiring protection.

Available accessories include:

  • Cables: ACC-CB7-10 (3.05 m / 10' MIL/BNC twisted-pair shielded cable) or ACC-CB7-10WP (waterproof version).
  • Mounting Bases: ACC-B3-1 for flat surfaces (40 lbf magnetic hold) and ACC-B5 for curved surfaces (30 lbf magnetic hold).
  • Power Supplies: ACC-PS2 (rechargeable with built-in amplifier), ACC-PS3 (115 Vac power supply, or 230 Vac via "-230" suffix at no extra charge).

Key Product Differences

The primary model in the series is designated as ACC797. Cables must be specified separately from the accelerometer unit. For applications requiring operation above 100°C (212°F), a maximum current of 6 mA is recommended. To minimize signal distortion when driving long cables with high-vibration signals, powering at 24 to 30 Vdc using a higher-level constant current source is advised.

How do you read this? do you have instructions on how to collect the data output?

Asked by: Octavio Latino
The ACC797 is an accelerometer designed for industrial vibration measurements. It is single part of the complete system which would basically consist of the ACC797. An output cable from the accelerometer (part# ACC-CB7-10) to a constant current power supply (part# ACC-PS3) and an output coaxial cable from the power supply something like a high speed data acquisition system to read the data.
