Supported Applications

The Omega Series 70A consists of solid-state audible temperature alarms designed for use with controllers having relay outputs. These devices generate a loud alarm tone when powered, utilizing a piezoelectric transducer that operates as a solid-state oscillator to ensure no arcing or mechanical wear occurs during operation.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The Series 70A alarms operate within an ambient temperature range of -30 to 65°C (-22 to 149°F). Storage is supported from -40 to 85°C (-40 to 185°F). The units are rated for operation after being subjected to 95% relative humidity at 40°C continuously for 100 hours; following such exposure, the unit must be allowed to dry for a minimum of four hours at room temperature before operation.

Electrical specifications include a maximum voltage rating of 120 VAC (with 220 Vac available via suffix). The device tolerates surge voltages up to 20% over the maximum rated voltage applied for less than one minute. Life expectancy is documented as five years under normal operating conditions.

Performance life specifications are defined by duty cycle:

  • Continuous: 100 hours continuous operation at 65°C with maximum rated voltage applied.
  • Intermittent: A duty cycle of one minute on, five minutes off, a minimum of 5000 times at room temperature and maximum rated voltage applied.

Configuration Options

The series offers four distinct sound types to accommodate different alerting needs. All models produce a tone level of 95 dB @ 2900 Hz.

  • 70A-1: Continuous tone.
  • 70A-2: Fast pulse tone.
  • 70A-3: Slow pulse tone.
  • 70A-4: Warble tone.

Power supply options include standard 120 VAC or a configurable 220 Vac option. To order with 220 Vac power, add the suffix "-220V" to the model number (e.g., 70A-3-220V). The series is designed for easy installation requiring a hole diameter of 1¼" (28.58 mm).

Key Product Differences

Variants within the Series 70A are distinguished by their sound output pattern and power supply voltage.

  • Sound Pattern: Models differ between continuous, fast pulse, slow pulse, and warble tones.
  • Power Supply: Base models operate on 120 VAC. Variants with the "-220V" suffix are configured for 220 Vac operation at no additional cost.
