Supported Applications

The OS425-LS-Series is a handheld, non-contact infrared thermometer for measuring surface temperature at a distance. With circle-dot laser sighting, a magnetic mount, several mathematical modes, and adjustable emissivity, it suits spot checks and monitoring across maintenance, HVAC, electrical, automotive, and process environments where a target is moving, energized, hard to reach, or too hot to touch. An included Type K thermocouple input extends the instrument to contact measurement of surfaces and immersion points alongside the infrared reading.

Adjustable emissivity from 0.10 to 1.00 lets the operator match the reading to the target material, and the instrument ships with a carrying case and manual for portable field use.

Operating Conditions & Performance

Both versions share a 50:1 distance-to-spot field of view, a spectral response of 8 to 14 µm, and a response time of 1 second, with a display resolution of 0.1°C/0.1°F.

• Infrared accuracy: ±2% rdg or 2°C (3.5°F), whichever is greater.
• Thermocouple range and accuracy: -64 to 1400°C (-83 to 2552°F), ±1% of rdg or 1°C, whichever is greater.

• Power: two AAA alkaline batteries (included), delivering 180 hours of continuous use without the laser and LCD backlight, with automatic shutoff after 60 seconds.

Protect the instrument from electromagnetic fields, such as those from arc welders and induction heaters, and from thermal shock; after a large or abrupt change in ambient temperature, allow 30 minutes for the unit to stabilize before use.

Configuration Options

The series comprises two versions that differ in their measurement range. The standard OS425-LS measures -60 to 1000°C (-76 to 1832°F), while the high-temperature OS425HT-LS extends the top end to measure -60 to 1500°C (-76 to 2732°F). Both provide the same circle-dot laser sighting, adjustable emissivity, mathematical modes, and Type K thermocouple input, so the choice between them is driven by the upper temperature required for the target.

The model number identifies the version and its temperature range. The two catalog models are:
