Supported Applications
The OS306-Series is a handheld, battery-powered performance infrared thermometer for non-contact surface temperature measurement. Its adjustable emissivity lets it read a wide variety of surfaces — the product is aimed at materials such as metals, ceramics and graphite — across a range of -50 to 700°C (-58 to 1292°F).
The compact, pistol-grip design supports one-hand operation, a single laser dot helps aim the instrument at the target, and a backlit LCD keeps readings visible in low light. Because emissivity is adjustable 0.10 to 1.00, the thermometer can be matched to the material being measured; the accompanying emissivity reference lists representative values such as Aluminum at 0.30, Steel at 0.80, Water at 0.93, Ceramic at 0.95 and Skin at 0.98.
A 12:1 field of view lets the instrument read smaller targets from a greater distance. On-board display of current, minimum, maximum, average and differential temperatures suits spot checks, comparisons and survey work.
Operating Conditions & Performance
Measurement performance
The OS306-Series measures from -50 to 700°C (-58 to 1292°F) with an accuracy of ±1.5% rdg or ±1.5°C (2.7°F), whichever is greater. Display resolution is 0.1°C or 0.1°F, and the response time is 500 ms. The optical system has a 12:1 field of view and a spectral response of 8 – 14 µm, with emissivity adjustable 0.10 to 1.00.
Environmental limits
The operating temperature range is 0 - 40°C (32 - 104°F) and the storage temperature range is -20 - 60°C (-4 - 140°F). To maintain accuracy, avoid thermal shock and allow 30 minutes for the unit to stabilize after large or abrupt ambient temperature changes. Protect the thermometer from EMF (electro-magnetic fields) produced by arc welders and induction heaters.
Power and physical form
The thermometer runs on a 9V Battery with an estimated battery life of 12 Hours, and it ships complete with the 9V battery. It weighs 270 g (9.5 oz) including battery and measures 141 x 200 x 60 mm (5.5 x 7.9 x 2.4 inch).
Laser safety
Avoid direct eye exposure to the laser and do not stare at the laser radiation.
Configuration Options
The OS306-Series is supplied as a single configured model, so its capabilities are defined by one integrated feature set rather than by a menu of build options.
- Adjustable emissivity 0.10 to 1.00 to match different target materials
- 12:1 field of view for reading smaller or more distant targets
- Backlit LCD display readable in low light
- Single laser dot for target aiming
- Display of current, minimum, maximum, average and differential temperatures
- Adjustable alarm settings
These features are delivered in a compact pistol-grip body intended for one-hand operation, covering the full -50 to 700°C (-58 to 1292°F) measuring range with 0.1°C or 0.1°F resolution and a 500 ms response time.
Key Product Differences
The OS306-Series is offered as a single model, OS-306-121. The model number designates an infrared thermometer with a 12:1 FOV covering -50 to 700°C (-58 to 1292°F).
The unit ships complete with a 9V battery and carries the CE mark.

Show Ratings & Reviews
Can the -50 to 700°C, 12:1 Performance Infrared Thermometer; -50 to 700°C, 12:1 FOV, Infrared Thermometer; be Calibrated? If so, can I calibrate it in-house, or will it need to be sent in? As Always, Thank You for Your Time & Cooperation.
The OS-306-121 can be checked for accuracy in the field if there is a Black Body reference available. If it turns out to be out of tolerance then it would need to be returned to Omega for calibration.

Does this come with a calibration certificate?
The OS-306-121 only comes with a Certificate of Conformance Omega's CAL-1 which is not NIST traceable.
