Supported Applications
The Rotronic HygroLab is a multifunction benchtop device designed to read simultaneously up to four HygroClip2-Advanced digital humidity and temperature probes. The series is primarily intended for measuring water activity (Aw) in foods, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics. It also supports other laboratory applications requiring simultaneous or asynchronous measurements of relative humidity (%RH), temperature (°C/°F), and dew point (Dp).
Operating Conditions & Performance
The HygroLab operates within an ambient range of 0...40 °C (32...104 °F) at 0...80 %RH. Accuracy for the HC2A-AW probe is specified as ± 0.008 AW / 0.8 %rh / ±0.1 K at 23 °C ± 5 %. The device features a measurement interval of 15 s for Aw measurements or 5 s for data logging, with an AW Quick mode providing results in approximately 4–5 minutes (noted as 5 to 6 minutes in the instruction manual). Long-term stability is listed at < 1 %rh / year under normal conditions. The unit includes a real-time clock that provides a time stamp for every measurement and offers trend display capabilities.
Configuration Options
The HygroLab series supports configuration with specific probe types, sample holders, and connectivity options to meet diverse laboratory needs:
- Sensor Inputs: 4 inputs for HC2 station probes (HC2A-S or HC2A-AW).
- Housing & Mechanics: Constructed from aluminum, ABS, and stainless steel with an IP30 protection rating. Dimensions are 215×146×79 mm; weight is 1.02 kg (2.25 lbs).
- Display & Interface: Features a 7" LCD capacitive touch screen, push-button power with RGB light indicator, and internal storage capacity of 16 GB.
- Connectivity: Includes 2 x USB 2.0 and 2 x USB 3.0 (Type A) ports plus an Ethernet (LAN) port for remote access within the same network. An optional USB WIFI stick is available.
- Power Supply: Operates on 12 VDC 2.0 A, 24 W Max via AC adapter with CH (EU & UK) or US plugs.
- Sample Accessories: Compatible sample holders include WP-14-S (V2A steel), WP-40 (V2A steel), and WP-40TH (Brass, nickel-plated). Sample containers PS-14 and PS-40 are available. The AW-KHS clamp sealing mechanism is offered for use with WP-40/WP-40TH.
