Supported Applications

The Dwyer Series DPML LCD Digital Panel Meter is designed to display process values from transmitters measuring pressure, humidity, temperature, voltage, current, wattage, or power factor. The meter accepts input signals of 4-20 mA DC (loop powered) and voltage inputs including 0-200 mVDC, 0-5 VDC, or 0-10 VDC.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The Series DPML features a large 4-1/2 digit LCD display with segments available in red, amber, or green for visibility at a distance. The resolution is specified as 4-1/2 digits, 7 segments, with a segment height of 0.45" (11.4 mm) H. Accuracy is rated at ±(0.1% FS + 2 count). The conversion rate is 3 per second.

Operating ambient temperature ranges from 32 to 122°F (0 to 50°C), with a storage temperature range of -4 to 158°F (-20 to 70°C). A warm-up time of 10 minutes typical is noted. The unit weighs 2 oz (56.7 g).

Configuration Options

The series offers configurable engineering units and decimal point positions via jumpers or user selection, depending on the model type.

• Engineering Units: Models designated DPML-XXX support °F, °C, %, PSI. Models designated DPML-XXXX (or with 'P' suffix) support V, A, KW, PF.
• Decimal Points: 4-position user selectable decimal points are available on the Series DPML.
• Polarity Display: Automatic polarity detection displays a "–" for negative values (per family manual context) or "+" as noted in series specifications; verify specific model documentation for display logic.
• Span and Zero Adjustment: Adjustable span and zero settings are available, with ranges up to ±1999 counts documented across the broader DPMX family.

The meter utilizes screw terminals for electrical connection. A separate 24 VDC power supply is required to operate the backlight (35 mA typical). The Series DPML-4 models are loop powered, while other configurations in the broader series may accept 12 VDC or 24 VDC.

Key Product Differences

The Series DPML distinguishes itself within the Dwyer panel meter family by its 4-1/2 digit display resolution and snap-in bezel mounting style. Other series in the same product line include:

• DPMW: Features a window mount design using two screws to sit flush within the panel cutout.
• DPMA: Designed for standard 1/8 DIN packages with snap-in panel mount or clamp options, offering a high contrast display in black segments (or colored variants) and typically providing 3-1/2 digit resolution with 1" (25.4 mm) H segments.

Within the DPML series itself, variations are defined by input type and segment color:

• Input Types: Models ending in -XXX accept current inputs for engineering units like °F, °C, %, PSI. Models with a 'P' suffix (e.g., DPML-401P) or designated as XXXX typically handle voltage/power parameters such as V, A, KW, PF.
• Segment Colors: Available in red, amber, and green segments to differentiate process states visually.
