Supported Applications

The Omega FTB-200 Series consists of liquid turbine flowmeters designed for clean fluid service. These meters feature a ball bearing design with deflector cones to stabilize the low-mass rotor, intended to increase bearing life. The series is built to meet performance requirements associated with MS33656 (though not a military specification). Applications require fluids compatible with 304 SS bodies and 17-4 PH SS rotors; strainers are recommended if particulate impurities or pipe rouge may be present.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The FTB-200 Series operates within a process temperature range of -268 to 232°C (-450 to 450°F). Accuracy is specified as ±0.5% of reading, with repeatability at ±0.1% of reading over the repeatable range. Maximum operating pressure varies by model size from 1750 psi to 5000 psi. The maximum intermittent overrange capability is 150% of the maximum flow range.

Linear water flow ranges span from 0.35 GPM up to 225 GPM depending on the specific model selected. Maximum pressure drop across the meter is listed as 0.34 bar (5 psi). For fluids with viscosities other than 1 centistoke, special calibrations and universal viscosity curves are available.

Configuration Options

The series offers nine distinct models (FTB-201 through FTB-209) configured for specific flow ranges and connection sizes. All units include a mating two-wire connector. The following capabilities define the configurable envelope of the series:

• Process Connections: 37° Flare fittings in various UNF-3A thread sizes (e.g., ¾-16, ⅞-14, up to 2½-12).
• Output Signals: Available with optional integrally mounted signal conditioners providing 4 to 20 mA, 0 to 5 VDC, Unscaled Pulse, or Scaled Squarewave Pulse (50 ms duration). Specific conditioner models include FLSC-34, FLSC-35B, FLSC-51B, FLSC-C1-LIQ, FLSC-C3-LIQ, and FLSC-C3-AL-LIQ.
• Materials of Construction: Body: 304 SS; Rotor: 17-4 PH SS; Bearings: 440C SS. Installation kits are constructed from 304 SS (1.7 mm / 0.065" thick).
• Accessories: Installation kits (FTB-K3 through FTB-K9) provide upstream and downstream straight pipe runs required for proper operation.

Key Product Differences

Variants within the FTB-200 Series differ primarily by flow range, fitting size, maximum operating pressure, length, K-factor (pulses per gallon), and weight. For example:

• FTB-201 to FTB-203: Feature ¾-16 UNF-3A fittings with flow ranges from 0.35–9.5 GPM, a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi, and an overall length of 62 mm (2.45"). Weights are 0.4 kg (1 lb).
• FTB-204 to FTB-205: Utilize larger fittings (⅞-14 UNF-3A and 1¹/₁₆-12 UNF-3A) with flow ranges up to 29 GPM, maintaining a 5000 psi pressure rating. Lengths increase to 70 mm (2.75") and 83 mm (3.25").
• FTB-206 to FTB-209: Cover flow ranges from 4 GPM up to 225 GPM with fitting sizes ranging from 1⁵/₁₆-12 UNF-3A to 2½-12 UNF-3A. Maximum operating pressure decreases as size increases, dropping from 3500 psi (FTB-206) down to 1750 psi (FTB-209). Lengths range from 89 mm (3.50") to 121 mm (4.75").
