Supported Applications
The Omega FTB-800 Series consists of liquid turbine flow meters designed to measure fluid flow. The device operates by using a turbine rotor whose rotation speed is proportional to flow velocity; the rotating blade cuts magnetic field lines, inducing electrical impulses that are amplified and transmitted as a 4 to 20mA signal.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series supports process temperatures from -20°C to +120°C. Accuracy is specified at ± 0.5% of reading with repeatability of ± 0.1%. The meters feature a hard alloy bearing thrust type sensor for precision and wear resistance, offering minimal pressure loss and high repeatability.
Pressure ratings vary by connection size:
- 913.5 psi — all NPT meters up to 1"
- 362.5 psi — 1-1/4", 1-1/2", 2" male NPT
- 232 psi — 2-1/2", 3", 4" male NPT
A warning states that pressure in excess of allowable rating may cause the housing to burst. Severe pulsation and mechanical vibration will affect accuracy and shorten meter life.
Configuration Options
The FTB-800 Series is available with multiple male NPT process connections, including 1/2", 1", 1-1/2", 2", 3", 3-1/2", and 4-1/2". The output signal is a standard 4 to 20mA current loop.
Electrical connection requires two wires from the flow sensor (24V+ and 24V-) connecting to an external instrument that supplies 24VDC power.

The operator must ensure that the operating fluid is compatible with these materials, as incompatible fluids can cause deterioration of internal components.

Variants within the series are distinguished by model number and physical dimensions corresponding to their NPT connection size. Model numbers follow the pattern FTB-800 - <Model Number> - <Size/Type>, such as FTB-804-I, FTB-815-I, and FTB-830-I.

How to convert the 4-20 mA to flow rates? Is there a linear correlation between these two parameters?
Omega suggests that at 4 mA equals to ZERO flow and at 20 mA equals to the maximum flow rate and is linear between these points? How are these points defined?

What is the cable connection type used on this meter? Is it possible to purchase a replacement connector and cable? If yes, what is the part number? I have one of these flow meters, but have misplaced the connector & cable.

This flow meter can be used for 35% H2O2 liquid ? Model FTB-815-I Advise model no. for transmitter

I have a FTB-815-I model and want to connect it to a DAQ. However, it seems that there are only two connectors 24V- and 24V+, while the manual indicates that the output should be 4 to 20mA. How do I connect this to a DAQ to read the current signal?
Thank you for your inquiry! The FTB-815-I is a two wire loop powered device. Typically the flow meter, a power supply, and a readout/recorder are all wired in a loop. The positive of the power supply goes to the positive of the flow meter, the negative of the flow meter goes to positive on the readout, and the negative of the power supply goes to the negative of the readout.

I got one FTB-815-I turbine meter 1", Could I conected in 1/2" size? Do you have a stainless steel 1/2" connector aditional accessory?
Thank you for your inquiry about the turbine flow meter. Unfortunately, there is no reducer available and in the event you must reduce the pipe diameter that much, please follow the straight run requirement upstream of at least 10x the diameter and 5x the diameter downstream.

How do I measure the 4-20mA output signal and transport it to my DAQ device?
