Supported Applications

The Omega OME-DB-24P/24PD series consists of 24-channel OPTO-isolated input boards designed as daughter boards for the OME-PIO-D144 digital input system. These boards are engineered for industrial environments where isolation is required to protect computer systems from common-mode voltages, ground loops, and voltage spikes.

Key application capabilities include:

  • Sensing DC signals ranging from TTL levels up to 24V
  • Detecting a wide range of AC signals with frequencies ≥1 kHz and voltages ≥4 Vrms
  • Providing isolated digital input sensing using bi-directional opto-couplers with resistors for current sensing

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series operates within an ambient temperature range of 0 to 60°C (32 to 140°F) and a storage temperature range of -20 to 70°C (-4 to 175°F). Humidity ratings are specified as 5 to 90% RH non-condensing. The boards require a power supply of +5V @ 336 mA max.

Performance specifications for digital logic levels include:

  • Input low voltage (DC or peak AC): Minimum 0, Maximum ±1V
  • Input high voltage DC/KHz AC: Minimum ±2.8 Vdc / 4 Vrms; Maximum ±24 Vdc / 24 Vac

The response time is documented as 20 µs without filter and 2.2 ms with filter.

Voltage Sensing Logic for AC Signals

  • Registers a constant logic high if the frequency of the input AC signal is ≥1 kHz and voltage is ≥4 Vrms
  • An AC filter jumper must be shorted for AC input signals

Configuration Options

The series offers configurable connectivity options to suit different installation requirements. The OME-DB-24P model utilizes a 50-pin flat cable connection, while the OME-DB-24PD model features a 37-pin D-sub connector.

Connectivity and Cabling

  • OME-DB-24P: Includes a 1.5 m (5') 50-pin flat cable; connects via 50-pin header
  • OME-DB-24PD: Includes a 1 m (3') 37-pin D-sub connector cable; connects via 37-pin D-sub connector

Mounting and Accessories

  • DIN-Rail mounting kits are available as options: OME-DB-24P/DIN and OME-DB-24PD/DIN
  • Cable Options: 50-pin flat cable (OME-CA-5015, 1.5 m / 5'); 37-pin male-male D-sub connector cables available in 1 m (3') and 2 m (7') lengths
  • Warranty: OMEGACARE™ extended warranty program covers parts, labor, and equivalent loaners for one year

Key Product Differences

The primary distinction between models in this series is the connector type and included cabling. The OME-DB-24P model uses a 50-pin flat cable interface, whereas the OME-DB-24PD model utilizes a D-sub 37 connector interface.

  • OME-DB-24P: 24-channel OPTO-isolated input board with 1.5 m (5') 50-pin flat cable
  • OME-DB-24PD: 24-channel OPTO-isolated input board with D-sub 37 connector and 1 m (3') 37-pin D-sub connector cable

All models are described as smaller than actual size in documentation illustrations. The series is compatible with the OME-PIO-D144 digital input board system.

Hello, the datasheet states that the current limiting resistor at the input can be changed. What size and type of resistor should be placed?
