Supported Applications

The Omega SV290 Series comprises 2-way, normally open (NO), pilot-operated anti-waterhammer solenoid valves designed for industrial and laboratory applications involving liquids or gases. Typical documented uses include water treatment, irrigation systems, cooling circuits, car washing equipment, petroleum processing, and dish and bottle washing operations.

These valves are engineered to reduce or control water hammer in incompressible fluids by restricting pilot flow to prevent slamming closed during operation.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The SV290 Series operates within an ambient temperature range of -9 to 50°C (15 to 122°F). The valves feature a NEMA 4 (IP65) enclosure rating and are constructed with a brass valve body and black solenoid housing. They are rated for continuous use and can be mounted in any position.

Performance specifications vary by model size:

• SV291 (3/4" NPT): Cv 9.6, minimum differential pressure of 5 psid, maximum differential pressure of 230 psid. Operating temperature range is 85°C to 185°F.
• SV292 (1" NPT): Cv 12.5, minimum differential pressure of 5 psid, maximum differential pressure of 230 psid. Operating temperature range is 85°C to 185°F.

The series utilizes Buna-N seals and supports a power supply of 10 W at 120 Vac (Class F). Response times are documented as 100 to 250 ms for opening. Closing time is adjustable via a 4-position selector, ranging from 0.6 to 4.5 seconds on the SV291 and 0.5 to 4.5 seconds on the SV292.

Configuration Options

The series offers configurable options for process connections, orifice sizes, flow coefficients (Cv), seal materials, differential pressure limits, temperature ratings, and response time settings. The model number guide follows the format: SV290 Series - MODEL NO. - NPT FITTING - ORIFICE - Cv - SEAL - DIFF PRES (psid) MIN - DIFF PRES (psid) MAX - TEMP °C - TEMP °F - RESPONSE TIME OPEN - RESPONSE TIME CLOSE.

Available replacement coils include:

• SVCOIL-110AC: Replacement coil, 110 Vac.
• SVCOIL-220AC: Replacement coil, 220 Vac.
• SVCOIL-24VDC: Replacement coil, 24 Vdc (note: UL approval is not available with 24 Vdc coils; minimum order of five pieces applies).

The wetted materials include brass, stainless steel, copper, and seal components. The closing time adjustment allows position 1 for the fastest setting and position 4 for the slowest.

Key Product Differences

Differences between models are defined by port size and flow capacity:

• SV291: Features a 3/4" NPT fitting with a matching orifice, Cv of 9.6, and closing response time from 0.6 to 4.5 s.
• SV292: Features a 1" NPT fitting with a matching orifice, Cv of 12.5, and closing response time from 0.5 to 4.5 s.

Both models share identical dimensions: H 120.7 mm (4.75 in), P 98.0 mm (3.86 in), C 72.1 mm (2.84 in), L 100.1 mm (3.94 in), and W 69.9 mm (2.75 in). Both require a minimum differential pressure of 5 psid to operate correctly.
