Supported Applications

The Omega AAV-1000 Series consists of air-operated, bronze angle seat valves designed for industrial control applications. These normally closed (NC), pilot-operated units are engineered to handle a wide range of fluids including steam, select liquids and gases, and vacuums. The series is suitable for media such as water, compressed air, natural gas, oil, air, and inert gases.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The AAV-1000 Series operates within a process temperature range of -10 to 180°C (14 to 360°F) and an ambient temperature range of -10 to 60°C (14 to 140°F). The pilot media is limited to air, inert gases, or water at a maximum of 60°C (140°F).

Pressure ratings vary by model size. Models AAV-1015, AAV-1020, and AAV-1025 support an operating pressure range of 0 to 290 psi. Models AAV-1032 and AAV-1040 are rated for 0 to 230 psi, while the AAV-1050 is rated for 0 to 160 psi.

Required pilot pressure depends on operating pressure and model size. For example, at an operating pressure of 0 psi, models AAV-1015/20/25 require a minimum pilot pressure of 30 psi, whereas models AAV-1032/40 and AAV-1050 require 50 psi. As operating pressure increases to 300 psi (where applicable), the required pilot pressure for all listed sizes reaches 150 psi.

Configuration Options

The series is available in six standard configurations corresponding to NPT process connection sizes from ½" to 2". The body material is bronze, and PTFE seal material is used as standard for fluid compatibility. Key configurable dimensions include:

  • Model AAV-1015: ½" NPT, orifice ½", cV 4.6.
  • Model AAV-1020: ¾" NPT, orifice ¾", cV 8.6.
  • Model AAV-1025: 1" NPT, orifice 1", cV 19.3.
  • Model AAV-1032: 1¼" NPT, orifice 1¼", cV 29.
  • Model AAV-1040: 1½" NPT, orifice 1½", cV 44.8.
  • Model AAV-1050: 2" NPT, orifice 2", cV 56.9.

All models feature a self-aligning gland and floating seal to assure maximum integrity. The actuator diameter is consistent across the series at 64 mm (2.5 inch). Units with BSPP threads are available by adding the suffix “-BSPP” to the model number.

Key Product Differences

The primary distinction between models in the AAV-1000 Series is the orifice size and corresponding pressure rating. Models AAV-1015, AAV-1020, and AAV-1025 share a maximum operating pressure of 290 psi and a pilot pressure range of 25 to 150 psi. Larger models AAV-1032, AAV-1040, and AAV-1050 have reduced maximum operating pressures (230 psi for the former two, 160 psi for the latter) but maintain a pilot pressure range of 45 to 150 psi.

Physical dimensions increase with model size. Width dimension B ranges from 192 mm (7.56 in) on the AAV-1015 to 248 mm (9.75 in) on the AAV-1050. Height C varies from 186 mm (7.31 in) for the smallest model to 241 mm (9.50 in) for the largest.

The series is supplied with an operator's manual; pilot valves are sold separately. The product carries CE and RoHS approvals, along with a 1 YEAR WARRANTY.

Are these valves spring return? Or are they air actuated in both directions?

Asked by: Hiwire
Thank you for your inquiry. This valve only needs to be actuated in one direction.
