Supported Applications

The Omega AAV-1000B Series consists of air-operated, bronze angle seat valves designed for bi-directional flow in industrial applications. These normally closed (NC), pilot-operated control valves are engineered to handle a wide range of fluids including steam, select liquids and gases, vacuum, water, compressed air, natural gas, oil, neutral fluids, and some aggressive fluids.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series operates within an ambient temperature range of -10 to 60°C (14 to 140°F) and a process temperature range of -10 to 180°C (14 to 360°F). Maximum pressure ratings vary by model size, ranging from 230 psi for the AAV-1015B down to 115 psi for the AAV-1050B. Specific directional limits apply: the maximum pressure is listed as "Maximum Pressure PSI* (1->2/2->1)" with values such as 230 (230) psi for smaller sizes and 115 (35) psi for the largest size.

A critical safety note states that maximum pressure with steam is limited to 150 psig. The pilot pressure required to operate the valve depends on both the operating pressure and the specific model; values range from a minimum of 60 psi at zero operating pressure up to 150 psi for higher pressures across all sizes.

Configuration Options

The AAV-1000B Series is available in six standard NPT port sizes, ranging from ½" (AAV-1015B) to 2" (AAV-1050B). Each model features a bronze housing with PTFE seals as the standard wetted material configuration. The valve stem incorporates a self-aligning gland and floating seal.

Key configurable dimensions and performance parameters include:

  • Model Numbers: AAV-1015B, AAV-1020B, AAV-1025B, AAV-1032B, AAV-1040B, and AAV-1050B.
  • Process Connections: NPT threads are standard. To order units with BSPP threads, add the suffix "BSPP" to the model number at no additional cost.
  • cV Ratings: Flow coefficients range from 4.6 for the AAV-1015B up to 56.9 for the AAV-1050B.
  • Pilot Pressure Range: All models operate within a pilot pressure range of 55 to 150 psi, though specific required pressures vary by operating load as detailed in the Required Pilot Pressure Chart.

The series is CE and RoHS compliant. Units come complete with an operator's manual; the pilot valve is sold separately.

Key Product Differences

Variants within the AAV-1000B Series are distinguished primarily by port size, orifice diameter, cV rating, and maximum pressure capacity. As the model number increases from 15 to 50, physical dimensions increase accordingly: overall width (A) ranges from 65 mm (2.56 in) for the AAV-1015B to 150 mm (5.91 in) for the AAV-1050B.

While all models share a common actuator diameter of 64 mm (2.5 inch), maximum pressure ratings decrease with larger sizes. For example, the AAV-1015B and AAV-1020B support up to 230 psi in both flow directions, whereas the AAV-1050B supports a maximum of 115 psi (forward) or 35 psi (reverse). The pilot pressure required at zero operating load is consistent at 60 psi for all sizes.
