Supported Applications
The Omega SV220 Series comprises 2-way, normally closed (NC), direct lift solenoid valves designed for hot water applications. These brass-bodied valves are engineered to operate effectively when the pressure drop across the valve falls into the 0 to 5 psi range. The series is suitable for controlling liquids or gases in industrial and laboratory settings where bubble-tight service is required.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The SV221 through SV225 models function as direct-lift valves, combining features of direct-acting and pilot-operated designs. A flexible link between the solenoid plunger and diaphragm allows the valve to operate as a direct-acting unit at low pressures and transition to pilot operation at higher pressures.
Performance specifications include:
- Process Temperature: Up to 99°C (210°F).
- Ambient Temperature: -9 to 50°C (15 to 122°F).
- Maximum Static Pressure: Defined as 5 times the maximum differential pressure (psid) rating.
- Differential Pressure Range: Models SV222 through SV225 support a range of 0 to 150 psid; model SV221 supports 0 to 100 psid.
- Response Time (Open/Close): 4 to 8 ms for the SV221; 30 to 100 ms for models SV222 through SV225.
- Power Supply: 10 W, 120 Vac, Class F (standard).
Configuration Options
The series offers configurable options across five primary models to accommodate different flow requirements and piping sizes. All variants feature a brass valve body with rugged NEMA 4 (IP65) housing.
- NPT Fitting Sizes: Available in 1/4", 3/8", 1/2", 3/4", and 1 inch connections.
- Orifice Diameters: Ranges from 13/64" (SV221) to 5/8" (SV222–SV224), with a 1" orifice on the SV225.
- Cv Values: Flow coefficients range from 0.76 (SV221) up to 11.7 (SV225).
- Seal Material: Ethylene propylene diene monomer (EDPM), selected for hot water compatibility and wide temperature tolerance.
Replacement coils are available as accessories, including SVCOIL-110AC (110 Vac), SVCOIL-220AC (220 Vac), and SVCOIL-24VDC (24 Vdc). Note that UL approval is not available with 24 Vdc coils; specifications such as pressure ratings may decrease, and coil wattage ratings may increase for this configuration.
Key Product Differences
The SV220 Series distinguishes itself through specific model configurations tailored to port size and flow capacity:
- SV221: 1/4" NPT fitting, 13/64" orifice, Cv of 0.76, with a faster response time of 4 to 8 ms.
- SV222 & SV223: Offered in 3/8" and 1/2" NPT sizes respectively; both feature a 5/8" orifice and Cv of 4.4, with response times between 30 to 100 ms.
- SV224: 3/4" NPT fitting with a 5/8" orifice and Cv of 5.5; dimensions differ slightly in height (95.3 mm) compared to the SV222/SV223 group.
- SV225: The largest variant, featuring a 1 inch NPT fitting, 1" orifice, and Cv of 11.7; overall dimensions increase significantly with an H dimension of 108.0 mm (4.25 in).
