Supported Applications

The Dwyer Series WE01 is a 2-piece stainless steel ball valve designed for gas or liquid flow control. The series incorporates a full port design intended to provide great flow rates with minimal pressure drop and bubble-tight shut-off. It features a blowout-proof stem, reinforced PTFE seats and seals, and a 316 SS (ASTM CF8M) ball. Actuators are direct mounted to create a compact assembly suitable for tight spaces. Limit switches can be mounted directly to the valves to allow for remote position indication.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The Series WE01 supports compatible liquids and gases with female NPT end connections in sizes from 1/2" to 3". The pressure rating is 28" Hg to 1000 psi (-0.7 to 69 bar) up to 250°F, with a process temperature range of -20 to 392°F (-29 to 200°C). Wetted materials include Body and Ball: 316 SS (CF8M), Stem: 316SS, Seat: RTFE/PTFE, and Seal, Washer and Packing: PTFE. O-rings are Fluoroelastomer.

Operating ambient temperatures vary by actuator type:

• Pneumatic actuators (DA & SR series): -40 to 176°F (-40 to 80°C)
• TD/MD electric series: -22 to 140°F (-30 to 60°C)
• TI/MI explosion-proof electric series: -40 to 140°F (-40 to 60°C)

Pneumatic actuators operate at normal supply pressures of 40 to 115 psi (2.7 to 7.9 bar) for double acting and 80 psi (5.5 bar) for spring return, with a maximum supply pressure of 120 psi (8.6 bar).

Configuration Options

The series is configurable with manual operation or automated actuation via electric or pneumatic drives.

• Pneumatic Actuators: Available as double acting (DA) using air supply to drive the valve open and closed, or spring return (SR) where air opens the valve and internal springs return it to a fail-safe position. An SN solenoid valve is available to electrically switch air pressure between ports.
• Electric Actuators: Offered in two-position control using supply voltage to drive open/close, or modulating control accepting a 4-20 mA input for precise positioning. Models feature thermal overload protection and permanently lubricated gear trains.
• Housing & Enclosure Ratings: Electric actuators are available with NEMA 4X (IP67) weatherproof ratings (TD/MD series) or NEMA 7 explosion-proof ratings designed for Class I, Group C & D; Class II, Group E, F & G; Division I & II hazardous locations (TI/MI series). Pneumatic actuators feature anodized aluminum bodies with epoxy coated end caps.
• Power Supply: Electric models support 110 VAC, 220 VAC, 24 VAC, or 24 VDC. Note that MD modulating models are not available in 24 VDC.

Key Product Differences

The Series WE01 distinguishes between actuator families and enclosure types through specific model codes:

• Pneumatic Types: DA series denotes double acting; SR series denotes spring return (rack and pinion).
• Electric Weatherproof: TD models are two-position electric actuators with NEMA 4X ratings. MD models are modulating electric actuators with NEMA 4X ratings.
• Explosion-Proof Electric: TI models are explosion-proof two-position (NEMA 7). MI models are explosion-proof modulating (NEMA 7).

Cycle times for the TD/MD series vary by model: TD01 is 4 s; MD01 is 10 s; TD02 and MD02 are 20 s; TD03 and MD03 are 30 s. Accessories include air regulators (R2-2120), air filter regulators 0 to 120 psi (AFR4), and volume boosters (VB-01). Repair kits are available for sizes from 1/2" through 3".
