Supported Applications
The Omega LC8200 series consists of compact through-hole compression load cells designed for force measurement applications. These sensors feature a low-profile, all-stainless steel construction intended for rugged industrial environments where space is constrained or integration into existing structures requires a central bore.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The LC8200 series operates within an ambient temperature range of -54 to 121°C (-65 to 250°F). Measurement capabilities span from 0-5 lb (0-2.3 kgf) up to 0-10,000 lb (0-4537 kgf), with a nominal output signal of 2 mV/V and an excitation voltage requirement of 10 Vdc (maximum 15 V). Performance specifications include an accuracy class of ±0.5% FSO and repeatability of ±0.1% FSO.
Physical dimensions vary by capacity range: units rated for 5 to 100 lb have a height of 9.4 mm (0.37"), while those rated from 250 to 10,000 lb feature a height of 16 mm (0.63"). All models maintain an outer diameter (OD) of 51 mm (2.00") and are constructed from 17-4 PH stainless steel.
Configuration Options
The series offers extensive configurability through selectable inside diameters (ID) paired with specific capacity ratings to accommodate various mounting requirements or pass-through needs.
- Inside Diameters: Available ID codes include 125, 188, 250, 375, 500, 625, 750, 875, and 1.00 (representing inches).
- Capacities: Configurable from 5 lb to 10,000 lb.
- Cable Assembly: Each unit includes a 1.5 m (5') 4-conductor shielded cable with the following wire connections: Green (+Output), White (-Output), Black (-Input), and Red (+Input).
- Calibration & Compliance: Units come complete with 5-point NIST-traceable calibration, a 59 kΩ shunt resistor for data verification, and are RoHS compliant.
The model number follows the format LC8200-[ID]-[CAPACITY], such as LC8200-125-5 or LC8200-375-10K. Metric configurations are available upon consultation with engineering.
Key Product Differences
Variation within the series is defined by the combination of inside diameter and load capacity, which dictates both the model number and physical height profile. Lower capacities (5 to 100 lb) utilize a shorter form factor (9.4 mm / 0.37"), whereas higher capacities (250 to 10,000 lb) require an increased height of 16 mm (0.63"). Specific ID options are not available for every capacity; availability is determined by the intersection of the selected diameter and load rating as documented in the series specification tables.

Fixture Required to Avoid Damage
The load cell worked well. My one complaint is that the friction from the nut rotating caused the steel plate we had on the outside to rotate, which in turn caused the load cell to rotate - damaging it's wire. It's easily addressed by either having a fixture, or at the very least having a handle welded to the nut-side plate so it can be held. Lesson learned.

Would a 5VDC supply voltage still work with this load cell ? I have a load cell input card that can only supply 5VDC
The load cell has Output: 2 mV/V nominal & Input: 10 Vdc (15V maximum) when applying full range. You can supply it with 5Vdc, but you will have less output in this case it will be 1 mV/V nominal range.

What is the resolution of the 1000lbf capacity load cell?
Resolution depends on the instrumentation being used to read the output signal of the cell. The load cell has a nominal output sensitivity of 2mV/V. With 10VDC excitation applied the load cell will generate a linear 0 to 20 mVDC over it's 0 to 1000 lb load range (0.02 mV per pound).

i plan on using my own output recording device, what is 2 mV/V mean? is V some form of weight such as kg or lbs? if V is volts, do you have a conversion chart that converts volts to kg?
2mV/V is output sensitivity of the load cell. The means that for every volt excitation power you supply to the load cell you will see a nominal 2 mV output at the full force load applied to the load cell. If you apply the nominal excitation of 10VDC to the load cell you will see a nominal output signal of 0 to 20 mVDC over the load range on the load cell. Each load cell is supplied with a NIST traceable calibration report that tell you the exact mV/V sensitivity of that load cell

What's the gage factor on the strain gauge?
Thank you for your inquire.
These sensors use 350 ohm full bridge

Is the load cell have Integrated Electronics Piezo-Electric device?
This is not a piezoelectric device. Internal circuit is a 350 ohm full strain gage bridge. It is piezoresistive.

Is this a full bridge sensor or do we need to complete the bridge with our data acquisition module?
Yes this load cell is a full bridge configuration. No bridge completion required.

What are the dimensions of the loading surfaces - OD of smaller diameter loading surface and ID of larger diameter loading surface?
A detailed control drawing for the LC8200 Series load cell is available upon request from our applications engineering group. Please email a request to pressure@omega.com and we will email you a copy.

Is this compatible with the vishay DAQ PN mm120-001496?
Thank you for your inquire.
The load cell will put out a linear milli volt per volt output with a 10 volt excitation. As Long as the device will except this output it should be compatible.
